    Description

    Position Overview:

    Functions as a leader in health care team. Assumes responsibility for coordination of clinical services hospital-wide. Coordinates and supervises nursing personnel and directs other ancillary departments as needed.

    Is responsible to make administrative decisions necessary to maintain the operation of the hospital during assigned hours as a representative of the nurse managers, Chief Nursing Officer, and Administration and may be called upon to perform other duties as assigned.


    Essential Functions:

    Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.

    Needs to be aware of and keep units informed of the constantly changing needs of the whole hospital.

    Collects pertinent patient information, responds to problems and issues to allow for appropriate staff/patient ratios.


    Makes bed assignments in coordination with charge nurse, adjusts staffing to meet requirements of the nurse managers based on acuity data.

    Provides for the coordination and management of nursing units and ancillary departments of the hospital.

    Acts as a clinical resource to maintain standards of practice and standards of care.


    The performance of these duties requires the House Supervisor to be available for the constantly changing needs of the hospital.

    Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.


    Education and Work Experience

    Education:
    Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree, Diploma or Bachelor Degree in nursing. BSN or experience preferred.

    Training & Experience: 5 years clinical experience is required. Previous experience as House Supervisor preferred. Orientation is based on previous knowledge and experience. Additional education/training in related fields is considered on an individual basis. BCLS required on hire; ACLS. PALS or ENPC, NRP (preferred) within 9 months of hire.

    Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner.

    Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health.

    Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients.

    The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required.
