Pay: $34.00 – $40.00 per hour
Position Type: Full-Time
Location: Colorado (Primarily In-State, Limited Out-of-State Travel)
Travel: Up to 25% (Typically within 1–2 hours of headquarters)

The Role
The Staff Engineer will support pilot testing design, remediation system design, system startup, optimization, and augmentation of remedial activities. This role works closely with Project Managers, Program Managers, and senior engineering staff to execute technical deliverables and field operations.
This position blends fieldwork and office-based engineering responsibilities and requires strong technical knowledge in environmental remediation, engineering, and geology.
You will also mentor junior staff and help guide new team members entering the engineering field.
What You'll Be Doing
Field & Site Assessment Support
Perform environmental sampling (air, groundwater, soil)
Calibrate and operate monitoring and surveying equipment
Collect site data and thoroughly document field conditions
Safely transport lab samples between field sites and laboratories
Collaborate with subcontractors performing environmental or construction activities
Data Review & Technical Reporting
Review and analyze laboratory data to guide next project steps
Prepare technical reports, figures, maps, and analytical tables
Clearly communicate findings and technical reasoning to clients
Assist in documenting pilot test results and field observations
Support QA/QC documentation and process improvements
Engineering Design & Remediation Systems
Assist with pilot testing (air sparge, soil vapor extraction, etc.)
Support preparation of:
Basis of Design (BOD) documents
Bills of Materials (BOM)
Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Develop Installation, Startup, Operation, Maintenance & Monitoring Plans
Oversee remediation system installations and startups
Participate in or lead Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs)
Review system operating data and recommend optimizations
Prepare as-built documentation packages
What You Bring
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
Strong technical writing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong time management and ability to meet strict deadlines
Excellent communication skills with peers, management, and clients
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Valid driver's license
Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred
2+ years of engineering experience in environmental or oil & gas industry
40-hour HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refresher
Experience working with state regulations and regulatory agencies
Consulting experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role operates in both:
Office Environment
Use of computers, software applications, phones, and standard office equipment
Field Environment
Exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
Use of PPE and safety equipment
Handling contained contaminated samples
Standing for extended periods (2–3 hours at a time)
Lifting up to 30 pounds as needed
Walking short distances at job sites
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Occasional evenings or weekends based on project needs
Exact daily start and end times may vary depending on field assignments
