    JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY


    The utilities engineer is responsible to coordinate and direct supervision to the Utilities Operators, developing, and maintaining utility systems, such as waste water treatment, steam generators, gas, and electricity.

    Work to ensure that these systems are efficient, reliable, and compliance with all applicable city/state/federal codes, laws, regulations, etc. Ensures maintenance planning for utilities and waste water treatment weekly and during planned shut-down events. Promotes a culture of safety, quality, and environmental stewardship by effectively communicating site/company safety, quality, and environmental policies/ programs.

    Principal Responsibilities
    Supervising a team of utility workers to ensure that all systems are operating efficiently and effectively.

    Developing and implementing maintenance plans, schedules, and procedures to ensure optimal performance of utility systems.

    Conducting regular inspections of utility systems to identify and address any issues or potential problems.


    Coordinating with other departments and external contractors to ensure that all necessary repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

    Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.


    Monitoring all the utility as well water, steams, waste water, gas, electricity usage and costs to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.


    Provides utility and facilities design support for plant expansions, equipment installations, and changes or modifications to existing systems, designing and developing technical specifications, plans, and cost estimates.

    Conducting feasibility studies and analyzing data to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for utility systems.

    Overseeing the construction and installation of utility systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

    Developing and implementing maintenance plans, schedules, and procedures to ensure optimal performance of utility systems.


    Coordinating with other departments and external contractors to ensure that all necessary repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

    Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.

    Preparing regular KPI'S, reports and presentations on utility system performance, costs, and other relevant metrics.

    Keeping up-to-date with industry developments and technological advancements in utility systems.

    Use knowledge and expertise in the area to appropriately direct as well as troubleshoot appropriate machinery and processes.

    Maintains and updates the database of electronic and hard copy documents that supports utilities and infrastructure

    Acts as the utility and infrastructure resource for the construction team on specification and drawing clarification

    Provide technical training and validation support to sanitation, quality, operation, maintenance, and utility team members for incoming utilities and facilities systems in new and existing factory operations to meet safety and quality objectives

    Provides leadership and technical support to the plant energy team

    Manage energy usage; develops and implements Energy Conservation programs and projects; reports Energy results, budgets, etc.

    Maintains P&ID drawings database for all utility processes and systems and the process for updating with new installations and changes/modifications

    Essential Functions Physical Demands
    Physical mobility and agility required, prolonged stooping, stretching, bending.

    May require working in an environment including weekends, holidays and call-in schedule.


    Sensory faculties needed to safety perform the job duties that allow a person to react to potential immediate hazardous conditions and to take appropriate actions.

    Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respiratory protection, safety harness, and other fall protection.

    In addition to common protective or safety equipment such as, safety shoes, eye protection, hand protection, heating protection, hard hats, etc.

    Environmental Work Conditions
    45% percent of work performed in the plant and 55% in an office environment.

    Must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) as assigned.

    The incumbent is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

    Activities occur inside and outside.

    The incumbent is subject to outside environmental conditions:
    No effective protection from weather.

    The incumbent is subject to extreme cold:
    Temperatures below 32 degrees F for periods of more than one hour.

    The incumbent is subject to extreme heat:
    Temperatures above 100 degrees F for periods of more than one hour.


    The incumbent is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.

    The incumbent is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.


    The incumbent is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.


    The incumbent is subject to atmospheric conditions that can require respiratory protection: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases, or poor ventilation.

    The incumbent must wear a respirator (potentially breathing air or filter mask, air line or self-contained), encapsulated suit.

    The incumbent is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.


    REQUIREMENTS
    Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.

    2 years or more of experience in a Utilities Engineering/Supervisor managing hourly employees.

    Strong understanding of regulatory compliance issues for utilities

    Excellent project management skills

    Leadership ability to deliver effective feedback, both written and verbal.

    Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of company staff

    Must have strong leadership skills.

    Troubleshooting skills are a must, particularly of mechanical systems.

    Electrical and controls knowledge a plus.

    Must develop a workable knowledge of combustion principles and the operations of all utilities equipment.

    Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office.

    Ability to create spreadsheets and read P&ID drawings.

    Priority setting, problem solving, written communications, actions Oriented, Results

    PSM training and experience with the 14 elements

    Prior experience with SAP

    • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.

    Maintained records of the MOC, Inspections reports, daily control letters.

    Planned, scheduled and conducted maintenance and project activities.

    Ability to understand and operate a personal computer and associated software systems.

    Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

    Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

    Computer, including standard software and SAP.

    Experience with Calipers.

    Participate in overtime activities such as outage activities, vacation coverage, illness coverage, needed to complete critical tasks.
