    Albertsons-Safeway's Northern California Division Labor Relations Team has an opening for a Labor Relations Specialist.

    The Labor Relations Specialist position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to the retail stores for all Labor Relations services and providing quality assistance to Labor Relations team.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Manage office functions, including the receipt and distribution of mail from Unions.
    • Create grievance files from mail intake.
    • Maintain Historical data on Department drive.
    • Creation and distribution of communications to various levels of associates from individual contributors to division management, as well as union officials
    • Research and respond to Legal Requests regarding grievance matters.
    • Invoice payment- oversee submitting of invoices and track expenses for 3rd parties' costs.
    • Labor Relations grievance tracking- Maintain Access database and handle all updates to status of grievance. Prepare monthly grievance tracking reports, prepare annual summary reports.
    • Prepare summaries of grievance meetings.
    • Prepare settlement documents as instructed.
    • Upkeep of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA). Work to format and finalize changes resulting from Negotiations. Maintain contract files with current and past history.
    • Provide change communications which occurred as a result of negotiations.
    • Prepare, update, and distribute wage sheets.
    • Provide excellent customer service to the Retail and Backstage employees supported.
    • Advise Manager or Director when a matter needs additional handling to coach and train store management on LR related fields as needed.
    • Respond to phone calls and emails LR items, route inquiries to appropriate contact as needed.
    • Respond to requests for information from multiple agencies, current/former employees, HR, Corporate, labor relations, legal, and management.
    • Provide Query support to LR Team.
    • Create and process seniority reports for all areas in accordance to the requirements of the CBA, on a quarterly or semi- annual basis.
    • Perform research into employee history for payroll inquiries.
    • Perform general office duties, file, data entry, maintain calendars and answering, screening and directing phone calls.
    • Create documents including letters, memos, forms, reports.
    • Provide assistance in the overall department workflow process.
    • Other administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    This position observes our hybrid work model "Presence with a Purpose": blending remote work with intentional time in the office to build community, create connections, and work together collaboratively.

    Salary range is $25.38 to $33.00 per hour. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

    Qualifications
    • High school diploma or G.E.D.
    • 2-3 years administrative support or coordinator experience
    • Human Resources and/or Labor Relations experience preferred
    • Retail grocery experience preferred
    • Experience with a unionized workforce preferred
    • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Must be a self-starter with tremendous initiative to problem solve
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access
    • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, WorkBrain, Content Manager, Workforce Management, and SharePoint strongly preferred
    • Working knowledge of common human resources and payroll practices, Federal and State regulations, and Safeway Company policies
    • Ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretion
    • Ability to perform well in a team environment
    • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a deadline driven environment
