- Collaborate with the Director of Quality and cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement in supply chain processes.
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to optimize inventory management, reduce freight costs, and enhance handling efficiencies.
- Utilize continuous improvement methodologies such as PDCA, Kaizens, VSM, and RCA to analyze current processes and identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Work closely with warehouse personnel to improve material flow between Rhody Warehouse and the West Warwick Facilities.
- Support initiatives to streamline shipping and receiving operations, including the implementation of efficient packing and loading procedures.
- Conduct gap analyses throughout the supply chain operation and propose solutions to address identified inefficiencies.
- Assist in implementing a new Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with global teams to facilitate the deployment of the Quality Management System across AstroNova branches.
- Provide regular updates and reports on project progress to the Director of Quality and relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data effectively.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as PDCA, Kaizens, VSM, and RCA is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Previous internship or coursework experience in supply chain management is a plus.

Location: AstroNova, West Warwick, RI
Duration: Summer Internship
Objective:
The primary objective of the Summer Supply Chain Internship is to support a Black Belt project aimed at developing a more efficient and streamlined process within Plants 110 and 120 in West Warwick, Rhode Island, ultimately leading to reduced inventory, freight costs, and handling costs. The interns will work under the guidance of the Director of Quality to implement continuous improvement techniques such as PDCA, Kaizens, VSM, and RCA to achieve these goals. Additionally, the intern will assist in improving material flow between Rhody Warehouse and the West Warwick Facilities, enhancing warehouse efficiencies related to shipping and receiving, and closing efficiency gaps throughout the operation. Additionally, the interns will contribute to the implementation of a new quality management system, which has the potential to be deployed globally within AstroNova branches.
