- Planning, coordinating, and delegating the delivery of a high‑quality Youth Development Program and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization including camp programs, family engagement activities, AmeriCorps processes, and afterschool initiatives
- Developing new initiatives in the youth development program to support the strategic direction of the organization and managing the requisite relationships with school districts, and other strategic community partners
- Developing and implementing long‑term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the programs
- Supporting the development of program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the programs and to identify areas for improvement
- Ensuring that YDP activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization
- Ensuring that program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards
- Administrating and providing support to YDP staff for accreditation, childcare licensing, and meeting national standards.
- Collaborating with school psychologist, camp director, afterschool coordinator, and other staff on matters concerning YDP
- Developing forms and records to document YDP activities
- Overseeing and supporting the collection and maintenance of records on the clients of the program for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization
- Implementing the human resources policies, procedures, and practices of the organization
- Establishing and implementing a performance management process for all YDP staff
- Engaging volunteers for appropriate program activities using established volunteer management practices
- Ensuring all YDP staff members receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards
- Supervising YDP staff including Family Engagement Coordinators, Camp Director, camp staff, AmeriCorps Volunteers, and community volunteers by providing training, feedback, and evaluation
- Communicating with clients and other stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program
- Maintaining the integrity of target populations in YDP
- Providing program information to Program Committee
- Supporting Program Committee and YDP Admissions Committee
- Identifying and evaluating the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks
- Monitoring YDP activities on a regular basis and assembling an annual written evaluation summarizing the various components of the program evaluation framework
- Reporting evaluation findings to the COO and Program Committee and recommend changes to enhance YDP, as appropriate
- Maintaining a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top‑quality people
- Communicating professionally and effectively with COO and other CBH staff
- Working with staff, Trustees, volunteers to maintain integrity of mission, vision, and strategic plan
- Cultivating and managing of professional relationships
- Serving as CBH Ambassador at all times
- Attending, supporting, and participating in CBH special events
- Bachelor's degree is required – MSW strongly preferred or Masters in related field
- At least three to five years of experience working directly with children and their families
- Strong teaching and leadership skills
- Experience working with special needs youth
- Experience working with schools
- Administrative and organizational skills
- High professional standards
- Clean driving record
- Preference for those who are bilingual (Spanish)
- Knowledge of positive youth development theory
- Skills in working collaboratively with other professionals, staff, customers, education professionals and parents. Ability to organize and carry out responsibilities efficiently and effectively
- Ability to communicate appropriately both verbally and in writing in a wide variety of circumstances. Visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal range, with correction if necessary
- Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the Children's Beach House and an ability and willingness to present a positive image of the organization, and its board and staff to the community

PROGRAM SUMMARY: The Children's Beach House (CBH) is a private, non‑profit organization organized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a public charity. CBH was founded in 1936 by Lydia Chichester DuPont with the mission of improving the lives of children, youth, families, and communities by helping them to identify, understand, and utilize their own strengths, talents, and resources. CBH strives to help Delaware's children and their families that face the most adverse circumstances.
POSITION TITLE: Director, Youth Development Program
POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Youth Development Program (YDP) reports to the Children's Beach House's COO. The YDP Director is responsible for supporting the administration and strategic plan of the YDP program. The YDP Director oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of the YDP including planning, organizing, staffing, training, leading, and controlling program activities. Other key duties include community outreach, recruitment, and marketing. This is a twelve‑month, full‑time position. The YDP Director is charged with performing duties in accordance with Board Policy and within the limits of federal, state, and local laws. The YDP Director will be responsible for supporting the agency's program, mission, vision, and values throughout the organization while developing a positive public image of the organization based on the same. In addition, the YDP Director is expected to meet or exceed all requirements of applicable regulatory agencies or organizations. The YDP Director is responsible for developing partnerships with like‑minded agencies in the community.
