Horton, Inc., has an opening for a Mechanical Engineering Co-op at our Corporate Headquarters in Roseville, MN. Applicants must be currently pursuing a 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of school completed (Junior, Senior, Masters status) and have a 3.0 GPA or above.

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Engineering Co-op position will work in the Core Products department and will perform varied duties of a complex nature. The candidate will assist the core product development engineering department and will receive general guidance from the Manager and direct guidance from a full-time engineer / mentor. Primary responsibilities will be focused on supporting new product development and improvements to existing products. This Co-Op will be from June-December of 2024.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering Co-Op Responsibilities:

Motivated, self-directed, and the ability to make risk balanced decisions.

Modeling and drafting of concepts into designs that can be tested.

Conducts computer aided analysis of new concepts with FEA and/or CFD.

Tests materials and concepts, working closely with the test lab staff to design tests and document results.

Develops test designs to measure the function and quality of products and to test new ideas or modifications of existing products.

Provides technical expertise in support of improvements to existing product designs; authorizes product design revisions.

Provides engineering support to the process of modification of existing products to meet customer requirements, while retaining product function and quality.

Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Mechanical Engineering Co-op Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of school completed with strong academic performance (3.0 GPA or above).

Junior, Senior and Master's status.

Demonstrated leadership, strong initiative, and decision-making skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Self-starter who can work well independently and as part of a team.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across the organization\selfless, positive, get-it-done attitude.

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
