    Position Summary:


    Position Summary:


    The MEP recruiter is responsible for the identification and recruitment of eligible migrant families, students, and emancipated youth in the Southwest region.

    Additional responsibilities include the coordination of communications between home and school to promote the educational achievement of migrant students and out-of-school youth.

    Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities):


    • Survey, recruit, and enroll eligible migrant students on the SEA database during the calendar year.
    • Submit all relevant forms, documentation, and records on migrant children to the data specialist and/or director.
    • Maintain a school visit schedule to ensure a presence in the school to increase the efficiency of recruitment efforts. Enrollments/withdrawals and coordination of effort between ASU and school districts.
    • Assist the Education ECE Advocate in providing early childhood services.
    • Electronic submission (including parent signatures) to the data specialist.
    • Assist the Director and educational advocates with parental involvement efforts.
    • Participate in parent meetings as required. Help prepare and distribute
    announcements of meetings to parents and school staff.


    • Assist in communications and completing required forms as needed including the updating and re-enrolling of eligible.
    • Assist educational advocates in enrolling in the regular year and summer school programs and other activities to advance academic success.
    • Transport students for health/dental screenings (as needed).
    • Translate forms and letters as required.
    • Collaborate with data specialists in planning and conducting recruitment blitzes.
    • Attend monthly meetings with the data specialist to discuss recruitment and identification activities and plans.
    • Attend interagency meetings that pertain to migrant families and keep records of such meetings as requested. Attend all meetings required by CDE.
    • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director as need indicates.
    Additional Responsibilities:


    • Prepare written reports and record data neatly and accurately
    • Meet all deadlines
    • Fulfill daily responsibilities while working toward reaching long-term objectives
    • Organize and assist in facilitating MEP special events
    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications:


    • High school Diploma, GED or sufficient experience.
    • Bilingual abilities - proficiency in Spanish, Q'anjob'al, and English, oral and written is required.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the challenges involved in the migrant lifestyle.
    • Ability to communicate and work with a variety of people.
    • Skills in record keeping and meeting management.
    • Computer experience using various data systems is preferred.
    • Reliable transportation and willingness to work a flexible schedule to make home visits.
    • Overnight travel to workshops/meetings/trainings/conferences as required.
    • Maintain daily recruiter/mileage logs, biweekly reports, and another accountability forms as required.
    • Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegiality with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires it.
    Salary and Benefits:

    $39,000-$44,000

    Salary is commensurate with education, qualification, and experience.
