- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, in accordance with state regulations and school policies.
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Provide ongoing assessment of student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to promote growth and development.
- Collaborate with other members of the school team, including therapists, counselors, and support staff, to address the unique needs of each student.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress, behavior, and goals.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a sense of belonging and promotes social-emotional development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to special education practices and strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- LBS1 certification or eligibility for certification in the state of Illinois.
- Previous experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders.
- Dedication to promoting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with special needs.
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies and accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
