    Description

    Job Title: RN – Labor & Delivery (Travel)

    Job Overview

    We are seeking experienced RNs for a travel assignment in Labor & Delivery. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum of maternal and newborn care, with expertise in high-risk pregnancy management.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Assessment Skills

    • Perform thorough, systematic assessments of patients across the lifespan (Pediatric to Geriatric).
    • Deliver patient care appropriate to growth, development, and clinical condition.

    2. Clinical Skills

    • Demonstrate competence in direct patient care and emergency procedures.
    • Provide safe, appropriate nursing care for Labor & Delivery patients.

    3. Documentation

    • Maintain complete and accurate patient records.
    • Document all components of the nursing process, including patient progress and education.

    4. Professionalism

    • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate accountability and seek opportunities for clinical growth.

    5. Patient Satisfaction

    • Respond professionally to patients, families, and coworkers.
    • Promote cooperative, patient-centered care.
    • Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA.

    6. Safety

    • Follow National Patient Safety Goals.
    • Use universal patient identifiers and safe transfer/body mechanics techniques.

    7. Unit-Specific Responsibilities

    • Provide care for patients undergoing surgical procedures and anesthesia.
    • Assess patient understanding and reactions to procedures.

    8. Accountability

    • Prioritize and direct patient care based on patient needs and changing conditions.

    9. Patient Education

    • Provide pre- and post-operative education for patients and families.
    • Assess understanding of procedures and instructions.

    10. Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Duties

    • Support timely completion of PAT testing.
    • Evaluate PAT orders for completeness and appropriateness.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate's required; Bachelor's preferred)

    Licenses & Certifications:

    • RN License – Required
    • BLS – Required
    • ACLS – Required

    Skills:

    • Assessment & Clinical Skills
    • Documentation & Patient Education
    • Professionalism & Accountability
    • Knowledge of Surgical Conditions, L&D Procedures, and High-Risk Pregnancies
    • Familiarity with PAT Orders and Pre/Post-Operative Assessments
    • Patient Satisfaction & Confidentiality
