- Ensure compliance with all company policies, applicable rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
- Repairs, modifies, upgrades rail cars and rebuilds car components using hand/power tools, cutting torches, welding equipment, pneumatic tools, grinder and precision measuring instruments.
- Removal, fabrication, fitment and welding of railcar parts, components and structures.
- Performs mechanical labor, applies decals, stenciling and paint.
- Works around and operates forklift, overhead cranes and mobile equipment.
- Inspects machines and equipment.
- Reads and understands service repair manuals, blueprints, technical drawings and tape measure.
