    WRA is currently seeking a civil engineer intern in the Traffic Engineering Department at our Pittsburgh Regional office (Cranberry Township, PA) for the Summer of 2024.

    Our Traffic Department works on projects within the mid-Atlantic region (PA, MD, DE, VA) as well as nationally and internationally.

    Our traffic work is challenging, interesting, and in many cases, on the leading edge of traffic engineering applications in the industry.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a student to work with our project engineers and gain work experience assisting with our wide range of traffic engineering related projects.


    Responsibilities:


    Project assignments can range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor projects, as well as innovative multimodal transportation plans.

    The Traffic Intern may assist with the following tasks:

    Assist with traffic design related tasks (traffic signal, pavement markings and signing, roadway lighting, work zone traffic control, and ITS devices).

    Assist with traffic

    operational/capacity

    analysis tasks utilizing software such as HCS, Synchro, Sidra, or PTV Products

    (VISSIM/VISTRO/VISUM).
    Assist with safety studies and transportation planning tasks.
    Assist with travel demand modeling and forecasting tasks.
    Assist with field work tasks.
    Assist with preparing traffic designs, technical reports, and presentations.

    Qualifications:
    Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum
    Exceptional communication and have organizational skills.
    Positive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.
    Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
