    How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

    The Process Development Project Specialist II supports manufacturing process development at several levels. Under the supervision of the PD Project Manager, the PD Project Specialist works collaboratively with vendors and internal ALAM customers on development system design, installation, and testing of equipment to meet product processing needs. They manage small to medium construction and commissioning projects, and have a primary role in incorporating design improvements, developing maintenance protocols, troubleshooting system issues, and documenting operations protocols. A hands-on mindset with mechanical and chemical processing experience is critical in this role to ensure safe and effective equipment.
    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Manage small to medium development projects. Specification and installation of modular development equipment and tools related to manufacturing hazardous chemicals.
    • Capable of developing cost estimates related to these equipments
    • Capable of contractor management for small to large equipment installation
    • Assembles equipment and sets up experimental systems
    • Operation of development systems for testing/validation of manufacturing processes
    • Material campaign production or sample preparation
    • Expected to mentor and guide technicians
    • Capable to train personnel on systems operations
    • Maintenance and troubleshooting of installed process development units
    • Contributes to the process safety hazard assessments and operability design discussions
    • Effective and independent communication of technical updates to appropriate stakeholders, with technical evaluation of project needs for short and long term
    • Work with various teams including but not limited to Engineering teams to provide technical memos and reports
    • Successfully completes all assigned trainings

    Required Qualifications:
    • HS / GED with at least 9+ years relevant experience as a process or maintenance technician building, operating, and testing processes for manufacturing of hazardous chemical
    • Demonstrated safety mindset
    • Familiarity with PIDs and processing equipment
    • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment testing, operation, installation, and setup
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with solids handling equipment
    • Experience with glovebox or isolator operations
    • Experience with mechanical equipment and instrument maintenance (pumps, valves, agitators, heaters, ovens, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flowswitches, etc)
    • Capable of operating small chemical system processes for sample generation or qualification testing (distillation, synthesis, heat treatments, etc)
    • Experience with air- and moisture- sensitive molecule processing
    • Experience working with vendors on specifying equipment packages
    • Knowledge of construction and regulatory permitting procedures
    • Effective communication to technology stakeholders on status and results
