    Position Description

    GENEX Cooperative is seeking a Staff Accountant in Shawano, WI.

    This candidate will assist management in the preparation of timely and accurate financial reporting to both internal and external users.

    Also, to prepare and maintain accounting processes and data, meeting departmental guidelines and deadlines.

    As well as be responsible for maintaining financial records, including confirming compliance with IRS rules, reconciling bank statements, and balancing the general ledger accounts as requested.

    Major Areas of Accountability


    • Assist in month-end and year-end close. Includes monthly account reconciliation, accruals, and inventory valuation while monitoring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
    • Monitor and reconcile sales and use tax accrual accounts on a monthly basis.
    • Provide assistance in submitting tax returns to third party tax filing provider.
    • Daily processing of cash receipts and postings to customer accounts, including payments made by credit card, ACH, lockbox, and branch deposits.
    • Keep track of contract's expiration dates and work with management to extend, renew, or close them out.
    • Complete quarterly Tonnage reporting to various states and municipalities and quarterly NAAB reports.
    • Work with Distribution and Field Staff to conduct physical inventories and cycle counts, reconciling results to system records.
    Qualifications


    • A bachelor's degree in a related field to Accounting or Business
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Have the ability to communicate objectives, processes and decisions
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
    • Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks and duties successfully to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy
    • Have strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, JDE systems
    • Willingness to develop and grow both personally and professionally.
    • Strong communication skills both written and verbal a must
