Science Coach (1.0 FTE) position. Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Principal and the Science Coach will provide student-centered support and coaching for classroom teachers and others to extend their capacity to teach science to all learners.
They are responsible for collaboratively designing & implementing professional development, researching, collecting data, and assisting teachers and principals to interpret data to inform practice and make decisions regarding best practices, resource materials, and curriculum integration.
The position is designed to support, not replace, the instruction delivered by classroom teachers.
Essential Functions and Duties of the Position: The essential functions and duties listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.

Collaborate with the K-5 Science Curriculum Coordinator, and department members to enhance science learning of all students district-wide by:Implementing the MA STE Framework and NPS science/engineering curriculum including curriculum integration
Coordinating science data (including MCAS Grade 5 Science scores and data) among schools across the district
Creating, revising and analyzing NPS science assessments
Working with K-5 Science Center Curriculum Director and Science Center staff to prepare and implement science center materials, curriculum and programming
Participating in ongoing professional development to maintain currency with respect to of research and best practices
Support classroom teachers in an on-going co-teaching approach involving co-planning lesson design and Universal Design for Learning
Meet with and work collaboratively with a leadership team consisting of building Principal, teachers and Science Center staff to improve science teaching and learning
Design and support district-wide science professional development by consulting with district and building administrators and teachers to identify individual school/classroom needs and provide professional development as appropriate
Support teachers in culturally responsive science/engineering teaching
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Master's Degree, with specialization in science instruction preferred
3-5 years classroom teaching experience, including science and/or engineering
DESE License as an elementary teacher
Science (Grade 1-6) Certification required
Experience leading professional development and/or coaching with focus on equity
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
Must have deep understanding of science content along with sophisticated understanding of developmental needs of student acquisition of knowledge.
Must have working knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for Science, Technology & Engineering both content and practice standards.
Must be a highly motivated, self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively.
Must have ability to collect and analyze data in order to make recommendations for instructional programming and professional development using best practice
