    The Manufacturing Chemist is responsible for the manufacturing of specialty chemical reagents used in internal diagnostic products and upholding current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards in our laboratory environment.

    This position is part of the production team and will be located onsite in Bothell, Washington. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

    In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Synthesize small organic molecules and perform routine analysis using HPLC, LCMS, FTIR, UV, NMR and other analytic instruments under a GMP environment.
    • Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment in a safe and productive manner adhering to EH&S standards, policies, and procedures. Follow SOP and approved direction to clean equipment used in processes and maintain corresponding equipment logs.
    • Work on processes optimizations, scale up and validation activities. Work cross-functionally to improve processes and quality, and to reduce costs and non-productive time. Review technical documents include manufacturing batch records, SOP's, analytical methods, specifications, validation protocols, reports and investigation reports.
    • Effectively communicate with supervisor to ensure equipment and workspace is available for use and make recommendations as necessary regarding resources required to meet objectives and timelines. Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace.
    • Learn and apply Danaher Business System tools in the workplace to enhance productivity. Monitors KPI's and improves manufacturing process with respect to overall performance.

    The essential requirements of the job include:

    • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 0-2 years of experience in synthesizing small organic molecules
    • Hands-on experience with analytical and purification techniques, including UV, NMR, HPLC, LCMS, and flash purification systems
    • Ability to effectively organize, multitask and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment following established SOPs, worksheets, and general guidelines
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

    • Able to manage shifting priorities to meet critical deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic, growing environment and to accommodate changes in the schedule including working in other shifts, weekends and providing support as required.
    • Highly organized and able to work independently and effectively in a team environment with a positive attitude with minimal guidance/oversight while maintaining safe working environment and strict adhering to the Personal Protective Devices and equipment policy.
    • Basic knowledge of ERP SAP and Agile document control system, including creation and submission documents in Agile

    The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000. This is the range that we, in good faith, believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

    This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
