    Gibbs & Cox, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leidos is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Senior Naval Architect/Marine Engineer to provide technical, program and contractor management support to our Canadian Shipbuilding client.

    As a senior member of an on-site interdisciplinary team, you will apply Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, and Ship Design/Construction methodology to ensure Gibbs & Cox is adequately supporting the client with Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering support services including providing oversight of Subcontractors developing the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) design.

    Primary Responsibilities

    As a senior member of our on-site Engineering support team in Canada, you will tackle new and evolving ship design and integration engineering challenges by applying naval architecture principles, techniques, calculations, procedures, and criteria to support to our Canadian Shipbuilding client.

    You will be involved in a wide range of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering activities, providing oversight of requirements/specification development and compliance assessments as well as technical measures development and monitoring, participation in (or review of) concept white papers, change requests, trade studies and analyses, evaluation of design review artifacts including technical reports and documentation and related shipboard systems engineering plans and analyses.

    You will be involved with projects and

    managing projects

    executed across remaining ship design phases from current functional design through detail design and post-delivery support.
    Review engineering analyses supporting design integration and resolution of emergent issues.
    Analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems.

    You will influence the development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results including recommending and developing new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of function's strategy and operations.

    You will lead and manage the work of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results/outputs.
    You will need to resolve highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation.

    You will also need to develop solutions that are highly innovative, and achieved through research and integration of best practices.

    You will be required to communicate with executive leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of significant importance to the

    organization/project and work

    to convince others to accept new practices, concepts, practices and approaches.

    You will be required to have an in-depth understanding of technical principles, theories, concepts and their application across range of other programs.

    Serves as a subject matter expert within technical domain area.

    You will also be required to plan and organize projects and resources, including formulating a project team and efficiently managing the team through all phases until project completion.

    Basic Qualifications

    BS degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering or related discipline, preferably with design of US Navy combatants.

    Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
    Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
    Work independently or on project teams.
    U.S. Citizenship is required.
    An Active Secret Clearance is Required.
    Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Professional Engineer (PE) Certification
    Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
    Experience with US Navy combatant ship designs
    Experience working in large team environments & interfacing with highly technical points of contact for component systems / subsystems
    Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and project unknowns/ambiguity


    Pay Range:
    Pay Range $118, $213,850.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.

    Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
