    Position Summary:


    TheExecutive Director of Marketing Communications is responsible for contentdevelopment and developing campaigns and brand initiatives that inspire peopleto connect with their love of learning and desire to do things that matter.

    Asthe ED of Marketing Communications, you will oversee and drive the university'spaid advertising efforts in conjunction with our agency partner, develop asocial media strategy and implement our website content strategy to effectivelyreach out to students, faculty, alumni and the broader community.

    You will leada team of marketing and content professionals while executing strategicinitiatives that drive the growth and success of our university.

    The ED of Marketing Communications is both a strategist and tacticianoverseeing an integrated digital presence, including digital marketing and leadgeneration for enrollment, and an accessible website that advances UNC'smission and goals.

    The ED will guide our efforts in digital marketing, emailstrategy, CRM marketing and content creation, prioritizing work and aligningprojects to achieve strategic outcomes.

    Reporting to the Assistant VP for Marketing and Communications, this positionis responsible for developing stories that support the strategic priorities ofthe university, which include increasing enrollment, improving studentretention and supporting philanthropy through communications that engage alumniand donors.

    Projects include digital and print campaigns, toolkits and featurearticles and people profiles across key channels and platforms, website, UNC social media channels (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok,Facebook), UNC Magazine, email, digital advertising and other marketingmaterials.

    This position collaborates with Enrollment Management, academic programs,Advancement and other units serving internal and external audiences.

    Workingacross the university, this seasoned leader will strategize, create, implementand evaluate multi-channel marketing campaigns that enhance the reputation ofUNC regionally and nationally and drive student enrollment and supportphilanthropy for the university.

    This position contributes to content development, producing effective andengaging content and messaging that enhances UNC's brand. This position willapply best practices in content strategy and digital communications forinternal and external audiences.

    A passion for data and analytics is necessary.

    This position is responsible foranalyzing data and trends to optimize user experience, inform content strategyand create strategies to improve website performance.


    Job Duties:

    Content Development (50%)
    Write original content, both long-form and short-form.
    Implement a university-wide content strategy for effective storytelling to keyaudiences for digital platforms and print.
    Manage web copywriting and content creation in accordance with SEO bestpractices.
    Maintain a consistent brand voice and messaging across all online platforms.
    Create content for digital and print projects with engaging storytelling thatprovides a seamless journey or user experience.
    Leverage content in external news, events and trends related to UNC areas ofstrength, higher education and other areas.
    Lead content strategy for the website.

    Contribute to a collaborative and goal-oriented website redesign of inconcert with the Marketing and Communications team, campus partners andvendors.

    Develop and analyze reports related to content performance, user behaviors andmarket research.
    Recommend and implement tracking and analysis models to answer key questionsabout user behavior and UX/CX effectiveness.
    Identify content needs and address user experience challenges on site.

    Marketing Strategy(30%)
    In collaboration with the AVP, create and implement university marketingcampaigns emphasizing digital platforms and paid media. Develop and executecampaigns and work with external marketing/media agencies and partners.
    Assist with brand strategy and execution.
    Develop and execute marketing strategies designed to meet recruitment,engagement and brand awareness goals.
    Own and manage the student/customer communications journey.
    Manage social media for the university.
    Manage email and texting for the university.
    Develop and oversee governance, policy, standards, and metrics for marketingcommunications. Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns andattribute leads by platform.
    Manage and optimize email and text campaigns.

    Apply a broad understanding of digital marketing and data analysis principles,particularly those focused on performance and conversion related to SEO,conversion, message testing, benchmarking and KPI measurement.

    Work closely with colleagues in Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs andacross University Advancement to optimize, analyze and leverage content fordigital use in enrollment, branding, reputational management, and fundraisingcampaigns.

    Develop content and strategy for print marketing materials and publications insupport of enrollment and retention goals.
    Analyze and report on market research trends to inform and improve brandpositioning and marketing efforts.

    Leadership andManagement (20%)
    Serve as a marketing leader and champion initiatives that support universitypriorities.
    Develop and cultivate strong internal client relationships.
    Foster a fun, high-performance team culture.
    Supervise marketing and communication team and student staff, includingonboarding, goal setting, training coaching and performance evaluations.

    Collaborate with campus partners to ensure they are applying marketing bestpractices and are in compliance with their use of digital tools.

    Serve as a key member of the Marketing Communications Leadership team.

    Train, support and coach campus communicators and other staff to ensure theyhave current training and access for timely updates of web content.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor'sdegree in marketing, communication, business, or related area. Master's degreepreferred. Extensive marketing experience with an emphasis in content creationand digital marketing, including targeting techniques (Geofencing, Geotargetingand mobile advertising). Experience in higher education or large nonprofitorganization is strongly preferred.

    Demonstrated leadership in providing strategic direction for an organization.
    Ability to see whole picture as well as pay close attention to daily tasks anddetails.

    Exceptional writing skills to create long-form feature writing, web copy,advertising copy, and a wide variety of other projects and proven ability tocompose clear, concrete, and accurate content for multiple channels.

    Experience with enterprise content management systems such as WordPress, OmniCMS, Drupal or similar platforms.
    High levels of integrity, creativity, organization, autonomy, andself-motivation.
    Demonstrated history of innovation in the digital space.

    Must have experience setting digital content strategy for a large organizationof comparable complexity and understanding how to develop strategy for avariety of teams with complex goals.

    Working knowledge of inbound marketing, project management, website analyticsand social media strategy is strongly desired.
    Solid understanding of written English and grammar as well as AP Style.
    Exceptional attention to detail, strong verbal communication skills,professional demeanor, and collaboration skills.
    Data-driven approach to problem-solving with exceptional analytical skills tomeasure campaign performance.

    Strong knowledge of Google Analytics, Google TagManager, SEO/SEM and other web-tracking and measurement tools across digitaland social platforms for a large organization.

    Deep understanding of social media strategy, including Facebook, Instagram,TikTok, X/Twitter and YouTube. Fluency in building and deploying digitalcampaigns within Facebook Business Manager, Google Ads and relatedsystems/networks.
    Experience with CRM, preferably Slate, email and marketing automation campaignsand tools. Experience conducting content A/B tests, analyzing performance andoptimizing results.
    Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills with demonstratedexperience developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, clientsand colleagues.
    Experience managing, inspiring and leading a team in a collaborative, customerservice-oriented environment.

    This positionis required to perform their duties in person on the UNC campus in Greeley,Colorado, with one remote workday per week.
