    Emergency Medicine Physician Opportunity in a Critical Access Hospital in Southwest Colorado
    Wilderness Medical Staffing's Client is seeking an Emergency Medicine physician to join their critical access hospital emergency team. This is an appealing location for those that love the outdoors. Enjoy 300+ days of sunshine per year. Year-round recreational sports including skiing, mountain biking, kayaking. The area is also known for its hot springs.


    Candidate credentials:


    • MD or DO, Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency medicine.
    • ATLS, BLS, ACLS, PALS, DEA, State licensure
    • Able to manage as a solo EM physician with a diverse caseload with limited specialties available on-site.

    Duties / Expectations:

    • Handling typical ED cases including older patients with pneumonia, basic medical conditions, and orthopedic injuries (due to proximity to ski resorts).
    • Expected to manage emergency procedures and support trauma cases.
    • ED during the day with additional inpatient care responsibilities during night shifts.

    Work Schedule:

    • 12-13 shifts per month, including an equitable mix of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Day shifts: 10 hours (8am – 6pm)
    • Night shifts: 14 hours (6pm – 8am)

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Pay: $175/hr for day shifts, $180/hr for night shifts. Annual compensation approximates $336,960 for 13 shifts.
    • Relocation allowance: $10,000
    • CME Allowance: $6,000

    Facility Information:

    • 11-bed Critical Access Hospital/Level IV Trauma Center
    • 7-bed Emergency Department (including 2 fully equipped trauma bays).
    • Patient Volume: Approximately 700 per month, with 24 patients per 24 hours, totaling 8,400 annually.
    • Physician-led team, 1 physician per shift. No advanced practice providers
    • Three EM trained physicians and one FM with years of EM experience.
    • 2 RNs or 1 RN and a Paramedic per shift.
