    Senior Cybersecurity Analyst at Battelle Energy Alliance dba Idaho National Labora in Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States Job Description Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity to work in our Cyber Operations & Incident Response department.

    Our team works a 980 schedule located out of our UB4 facility with every other Friday off. Senior Cyber Security Research Engineer.

    Theorizes, organizes, and participates in the conceptualization and development of custom code used to analyze network traffic and proprietary protocols.

    Lead attack and defense methodology on high-risk computer networks. You will report to the manager over Cyber Operations and Incident Response.


    Responsibilities Include:

    Lead and train junior researchers in developing technical solutions for information operations and analysis related to national security topics including intrusion analysis, systems and vulnerabilities, network security, advanced analytic tools and data visualization techniques and other areas.

    Work with senior engineers and developing junior engineers to identify security issues of existing platforms and applications. Develop concepts, algorithms, and methods for preventing network attacks. Write code used to find weaknesses in systems to verify patch effectiveness. Conduct penetration testing and vulnerability assessments. Perform advanced analysis and reverse engineering of multiple types of computer code to identify suspect source code. Write scripts and develop software utilities to automate security analysis efforts. Work with senior program/technical staff plans, conducts, and supervise assignments, reviews progress and evaluate results. Provide direct mentoring, assistance, and support to junior staff in their technical growth. Work with customers independently or supervise teams to develop requirements, produce and test code, and provide necessary documentation. Build customer relationships and support customer requests with briefings and papers. Work with customers to help identify research results, resolve issues, and help determine next steps.


    Minimum Requirements:

    PR0300:

    Bachelors Degree plus 5 years' relevant experience Advanced Degree plus 3 years' experience in Computer Science or related degree.


    PR0400:

    Bachelors Degree plus 8 years' relevant experience Advanced Degree plus 6 years' experience in Computer Science or related degree.

    Background in performing vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and red teaming in ICS and embedded system environments.

    Understanding of cybersecurity scenario development, testing generation, and developing and providing training for red teams against ICS and embedded system infrastructure Lead, propose, and conduct research and development for cybersecurity on ICS and embedded systems.

    Verifiable experience with Linux, Solaris, and Windows-based operating systems and development tool sets. Background in searching and sorting algorithms, decision trees, and memory management. Familiarity with Zero Day exploits. Familiarity with packet level programming. Personal (hobby) interest in computers and programming and academic training. Familiarity with design and creation of AI algorithms capable of learning and making predictions that define machine learning (ML).


    Preferred degree disciplines are:
    Computer Science/Engineering, Math, or other technical degree with a Computer Science background. Preference for candidates with existing clearance. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
