    Job Description

    Ketjen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, is seeking

    an Instrument Engineer to support our Industrial manufacturing facility in Pasadena, Texas.


    This position reports to the site's E&I Maintenance Superintendent and is responsible for providing reliability activities and ownership of the site's field instrumentation and control systems, excluding the DCS.


    In this role you will provide engineered solutions to the site's E&I technician workforce that allows them to perform routine duties, preventive maintenance, and repairs on the types of systems above.


    You will be responsible for supporting the design, documentation requirements, testing, and configuration of any planned or new systems installed on the site.


    Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

    Work collaboratively with plant departments for evaluation and development of a long term plan for reliable and safe plant operations.

    Develop PM/PDM procedures along with forms and perform reliability studies.


    Provide assistance to the Project/Design Group and Maintenance on Electrical / Instrument systems to ensure that the design of equipment and systems meets the intent of corporate and plant design standards.

    Knowledgeable in the repair of Induction and Synchronous motors.

    Perform factory acceptance tests and monitor quality of repaired Electrical / Instrument components at vendors shop.

    Troubleshoot and lead failure analysis on Electrical / Instrument equipment and recommend corrective or preventive measures.

    Champion Electrical / Instrument system code compliance, including engineering to determine area classification determination, and component configuration.

    Maintain work priorities to meet departmental capital and expense goals as well as required project milestone schedules.


    Assist in assuring that all plant, corporate, and industry standards and practices are evaluated and met or exceeded so that all systems are properly engineered and maintained.


    Must be familiar with industrial plant Electrical / Instrument systems and be knowledgeable of the NEC 70, NESC, NFPA 70E, NEMA MG-1, API RP 500, NFPA 496, NFPA 497 and various ISA codes.


    Comply with all Process Safety Management and Management of Change compliance measures to ensure that the design and operation of the plant Electrical / Instrumentation system meets or exceeds all requirements.


    Education and Experience:


    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with an emphasis on Instrumentation / Telecommunications / Control Systems or comparable education plus relevant work experience is required.


    10 years' experience in Industrial manufacturing, maintenance environment with at least 3 years' experience in Industrial plant control systems or in Industrial instrumentation systems is preferred.


    Hands-on experience with the commissioning of Safety Instrumented Systems, Instrument Systems, Electrical Systems, Control Systems, and Variable Speed Drives while utilizing electrical one-line diagrams, wiring/schematic diagrams, instrument loop and controls wiring diagram, control/protection relaying, and PID's.

    Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro and have knowledge/experience with SAP, and Microsoft Project.

    Knowledge of Allen Bradley Studio 5000 and Plant PAX is considered a plus.

    Excellent written / verbal communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.

    The ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis is required.
