    Position Summary

    UNM Neurology seeks a Child Neurologist to join our Child Neurology team. The position will be part of a team of faculty in providing quality patient care in the inpatient and outpatient setting at UNM Hospital.

    Clinical responsibilities include coverage/call on pediatric inpatient service, outpatient clinic in general child neurology or specialty clinics, and reading of inpatient and outpatient pediatric electroencephalograms (EEGs). Academic responsibilities include participation in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Research responsibilities include participating in clinical trials programs in the department.

    UNM Hospital is the tertiary care center for the State and the only Comprehensive Stroke Center, NAEC level 4 epilepsy center, and ALS / MDA center in the State. The UNM Neurology Department has 45 full-time and part-time attending physicians and is home to well-established Residency and multiple Fellowship programs.

    Albuquerque, NM is a beautiful city with Sandia Mountains to the east and mesa to the west.At more than a mile-high elevation, this high desert environment provides beautiful sunny days but also the variety of all four seasons.It is ideal for outdoor activities and sports all year-round including running, hiking, biking and skiing. Albuquerque is 1 hour from Santa Fe, NM and 2.5 hours from Taos, NM, both world famous for their art and culture. The State of New Mexico is multicultural and diverse with 19 indigenous native pueblos, Navajo reservation and three Apache tribal lands. We have excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, numerous cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.

    Qualifications

    • MD Degree or equivalent
    • Board certified/eligible in Neurology with special qualification in Child Neurology
    • Eligible for Medical license in the state of New Mexico
    • Eligible to work in the U.S.

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Epilepsy or neonatal neurology fellowship
    • 2-3 years of clinical experience managing child neurology patients
    • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
