    Network Engineer:

    Purpose:

    Help coordinate, lead, assist, and support in the coordination and support of the technology goals of the District and Superintendent, including in the designing, assisting of installation, educating, maintaining, and replacement of technology equipment and software.


    Qualifications:
    A bachelor's degree is preferred in information technology or a related field.
    Four or more years of experience in systems or network administration preferred.
    Knowledge of Cisco network switching environments.
    Knowledge of Cisco IPT environments.
    Knowledge of crucial networking hardware, including current servers including cyber security systems, data backups, routers, switches, VMS, and wiring.
    Knowledge and understanding of Cisco licensing.
    Configure and maintain the district network and infrastructure.

    Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including hardware and software, e-mail, network, and peripheral equipment; make repairs and corrections where required.

    Make hardware and software acquisition recommendations, including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.

    Assist with planning, designing, researching, and acquiring new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintain current knowledge of hardware, software, and network technology; and recommend modifications as necessary.

    Knowledge of computer programs, software, installations, and server operating systems.
    Maintain current backup of data for district servers.
    Supervise and annually evaluate all building technology personnel.
    Coordinate and supervise all network projects.
    Experience and technical training in computer operations, applications, and networking.
    Experience in working with computers and their users.
    Familiarity with Windows OS, Mac OS, Apple IOS, Chrome OSStrong written and oral communication ability.

    Performance Responsibilities:


    Assists with establishing and maintaining the networking environment by installing, configuring, testing, and documenting the equipment/network systems according to the design and specifications.

    Assists with day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability and serviceability with minimal interruption.
    Provides technical support, responds to work orders and tickets from the users, and analyzes and solves reported network problems.
    Assists with configuring firewall security settings to access permissions groups for individuals and sets up provisions for incoming data.

    Assists with network technology upgrade or expansion projects, including hardware, software, and integration testing installation, coordinating these activities without disturbing the function of other systems.

    Assists with producing documentation for installation, network topology, and communications hardware or software troubleshooting.
    Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and software using standard business and administrative packages.

    Install, assemble, and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners, and related hardware; pull cables and rewire or direct the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and reconfigurations.

    Assist in configuring and maintaining the district wired and wireless networks.

    Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software and network and peripheral equipment problems; make repairs and make corrections where required.

    Provided technical support and worked with staff to resolve hardware and software difficulties and perform maintenance as needed.
    Assist in maintaining and managing network systems that support access control, video surveillance, and IP Phone systems. Maintain in-depth expertise in VoIP protocols and their performance from the edge through the network's core.
    Maintain expertise in a wide range of data network access.
    Helped coordinate and develop the district technology plan.
    Help maintain all district-housed servers, both virtual and physical.

    Assist with Installs, configurations, and upgrades of operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational departments.

    Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network, and peripheral equipment problems; make repairs and corrections where required.

    Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
    Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
    Occasional stooping, bending, or reaching.
    Requires prolonged sitting or standing and use of equipment including repetitive motions and computer eye fatigue.
    Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.
    Must be able to work independently without continuous supervision.

    Terms of Employment:
    Year-round at-will position. 40-hour work week or as established by the Board. Schedules or shifts may be altered depending on the job's critical nature or emergency circumstances. Work hours will be determined as required by conditions. Vacation and sick day allowances are included in the District Personnel Policy.

    Evaluation:
    The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and the Classified Handbook.
