    Job Description


    SUMMARY
    The CNC Programmer develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Develops efficient machine programs to optimize equipment utilization and maintain high quality levels. They support maintenance of the equipment and drive continuous improvement of the CNC operation. The role requires strong collaboration and organizational skills.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    Develop CNC code using model-based definition and/or blueprints for multi-axis lathes and mills.

    Analyze drawings and model data to determine optimal metal removal techniques.

    Determine optimal tooling / work-holding by working with other technical leaders and stakeholders.


    Work closely with manufacturing engineers and shop floor management in new program creation/release and program changes that improve throughput and/or quality.

    Create detailed tooling and setup sheet instructions for manufacturing.

    Create and maintain tooling documentation/library and tool life management system.

    Able to prove out new programs on shop floor.

    Fluent with inspection equipment. Able to validate first piece runs meet print.

    Optimize post processors to reduce hand editing from program development.


    Drive and support Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing techniques in the shop including process mapping, set-up time reduction, overall waste reduction, and reduced variation between machines and programs.

    Create standards for machine programs and train ME's and appropriate Machinists on methodology.

    Capable of leading project assigned resources for successful completion.

    Leadership of CNC operator training and best practices

    Coordinate and oversee program generation to ensure consistency and high level of quality and efficiency.

    Train machinists in use of new methods

    Functions as a valued team member providing technical guidance to manufacturing engineers.

    All other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 5 years of directly related CNC manual programming experience, with ability to obtain CNC Machinist Technical Certificate within 2 years with opportunity for tuition reimbursement OR

    NC Programmer AAS Degree with 3-5 years of directly related CNC manual programming experience.

    2 or 4-year technical degree from an accredited university or technical college (AS or BS) preferred.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    CNC Machinist Technical Certificate with 3-5 years of directly related CNC manual programming experience if no degree.


    JOB SKILLS
    Experience machining parts for aerospace, defense, or medical industries

    Ability to use of MS Office software including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project.

    Experience with Fanuc and Mitsubishi controllers

    Experience with SolidWorks

    Experience with 8 Axis Euro-Tech CNC equipment

    G and M code experience required

    Competency in metrology as well as ability to perform gage studies.

    Strong understanding of GD T

    Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.

    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    Ability to apply algebraic and statistical tools for analysis of product and process


    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

    Proficient written and verbal communication skills.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

    Frequently required to stand and walk.

    Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

    Occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

    This is an air-conditioned facility with many pieces of equipment that produce heat.

    The following are potential items encountered:
    fumes, dust, noise, hazardous/toxic chemicals. Appropriate training is provided and documented based on job placement that complies with OSHA and EPA regulations.


    PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS


    ASTM F , ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z rated safety toed shoes and clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required for the job.
