    Elementary School Director

    About:
    Under the direction of the Executive Director, the school Director serves as a member of the school's leadership team responsible for all programs and the overall operation of the school site. The School Director provides leadership in implementing and evaluating curriculum and instructional strategies, participates in staff, student and community activities, directs, evaluates and supervises classified and certificated staff, and supports the Executive Director in the implementation and monitoring of state and federal law, board policies and administrative regulations. This position requires a broad range of administrative and instructional leadership skills in the area of bilingual education.


    Job Responsibilities:
    The following are typical duties and responsibilities for positions in this classification. Any single position may not perform all of these tasks and/or may perform similar related tasks not listed below.

    • Reports to the Executive Director regarding the needs of the school with respect to students, personnel, and instructional matters
    • Assures the health, safety and welfare of all children
    • Assists in the implementing and evaluating of curriculum and instructional strategies
    • Directs, coordinates, implements and evaluates programs in accordance with state and federal laws, district regulations and other specially funded program requirements
    • Investigates and manages behavior issues
    • Meets with parents regarding specific school and student issues
    • Meets and confers with a variety of groups and individuals, including parents, school personnel, and preschool directors to foster a nurturing environment for students
    • Supports and promotes site based fundraising efforts
    • Promotes and encourages participation in field trips
    • Assists with the development of class lists and student scheduling
    • Supports a positive school environment based on active participation, shared decision making and positive communication
    • Assists in development and implementation of a plan for the on-going collection, dissemination and analysis of data related to student learning
    • Encourages an environment of positive behavior and regular school attendance
    • Oversees the collection of data and preparation of all school level mandated reports to state and federal agencies under the direction of the Executive Director
    • Participates in interviews and makes recommendations for employment of personnel at the school level
    • Exercises decisive leadership in crisis and difficult situations in the absence of or in collaboration with the Executive Director and in accordance with board policies and administrative regulations
    • Evaluates the performance of teachers and support staff
    • Assigns rooms and facilities for school programs and assemblies
    • Recommends employee discipline, reassignment, or termination action to the Executive Director as appropriate
    ● Attends 504 and IEP meetings as needed

    • Maintains confidentiality and engenders trust
    • Promotes a school environment which fosters a positive self image for students
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

    KNOWLEDGE OF:


    • Current educational laws that relate to administering a school campus
    • The latest research on pertinent educational topics
    • Educational practices that are consistent with the developmental characteristics of children

    EXPERIENCE:


    • Working with families and students from diverse backgrounds
    • A minimum of three years working in an administrative position in a K-12 school




    EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:


    • Master's Degree in school administration or related field
    • Valid Administrative Certification
