- Safely perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of light duty vehicles and equipment which may include quarter to one-ton pickup trucks, skid steers, forklifts, boom trucks, lube trucks or other light duty equipment.
- Perform diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: engines, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension, steering, brakes, clutches, AC units and electric motors.
- Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
- Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance to include: Oil and lube service, coolant system flush, transmissions services, filter and gasket checks, checking of water pumps, thermostats, belts, radiator hoses and clutch fans.
- Train and mentor other employees.
- Perform welding, such as: Carbon arc, and Mig.
- May operate equipment such as: forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment.
- Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections.
- Two (2) years experience in light duty mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.
- High School diploma or GED and five (5) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience; OR
- Bachelor's degree in a technical mining related discipline with at least one (1) summer internship experience (or equivalent) working in a mining or industrial environment.
- Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required.
- Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
- Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
- Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
