    Job Title: Youth Crisis Response Clinician- QMHP 9am-6pm Monday-Friday
    Location: Brazoria County
    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
    Working Status: Full-time w/benefits
    Summary:
    The Youth Crisis Response Clinician is responsible for providing crisis screening, assessment, intervention, relapse prevention, and continuity of care services to children and youth to address immediate crisis intervention needs for youth and families as part of the Gulf Coast Center crisis services continuum. The Youth Crisis Response Clinician will provide a developmentally-appropriate, in person response with other specially trained crisis staff, to prevent escalation to more acute settings when resolution in a home, school, or community setting is more appropriate.
    Additional duties for this position include the following:
    • In community settings, use trauma informed interventions and strategies to de-escalate children and youth in crisis, assess immediate crisis intervention needs, and reduce risk of parental relinquishment, removal, or out of home placement.
    • Identify and arrange for care necessary to mitigate risk in the least restrictive level of care, with reduction in law enforcement interventions, inpatient admissions, and diversion of youth from emergency rooms when possible.
    • Provide crisis treatment planning including safety planning and brief crisis follow up interventions.
    • Work with a team of clinicians, community agencies, school professionals, local law enforcement agencies, juvenile justice, and court systems to provide crisis response and intervention services.
    • Provide care coordination and connection to community resources to address the child or youth's immediate needs and promote recovery.
    • Provide coverage for Crisis Response teams to ensure adequate availability for Crisis Response services during the YCOT designated hours.
    Principle Roles and Responsibilities:
    - Provide crisis assessments for children and youth in a community or office-based setting.
    - Determine needs for ongoing services and treatment to stabilize crisis symptoms and risk behaviors.
    - Facilitate access to treatment necessary to mitigate risk and promote stability in the least restrictive setting, which may include connection to inpatient or outpatient levels of care.
    - Provide crisis intervention services at the intensity level indicated.
    - Consult with medical team and clinical supervisors as needed to determine appropriate means of achieving psychiatric stability.
    - Complete safety plans and other relevant activities as part of crisis interventions and outpatient disposition decisions.
    - Provide crisis follow up services adhering to Crisis Services, Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Information Item V, YCOT Performance Standards, and Gulf Coast Center Behavioral Healthcare standards.
    - Conduct outreach to community partners and training during downtime.
    - Provide child or youth-specific training to the local Mobile Crisis Outreach Team and other direct care staff who may provide interventions for children or youth enrolled in YCOT.
    - Conduct outreach to community partners (e.g. family, schools, psychiatric hospitals, local law enforcement, emergency departments) to provide information on YCOT programming.
    - Administration of required assessments at designated intervals in compliance with all contract requirements.
    - Complete documentation of all services provided in accordance with agency and Texas Administrative Code guidelines collaboratively within 24 hours of service provision.
    - Maintain electronic health records (EHR) that meet compliance standards at all times.
    - Appropriately documents the provision of crisis intervention services as necessary.
    - Maintain confidentiality of all individuals served, only releasing information as necessary based on a signed request for release and only to the requested party identified on the release.
    - Attend and participate in required agency meetings.
    - Attend and participate in required HHSC and other external provider technical assistance.
    - Complete required trainings on time.
    - Completes other duties as requested not listed here.
    Non-Essential Job Duties:
    • Accurately complete bi-weekly timecard, travel log, as well as vehicle reports and assigned reports according to Center policy and procedures.
    • Responsible for ensuring completion of the initial and annual CANS recertification in accordance with the Praed Foundation and HHSC performance contract requirements. A lapse/expiration in certification will result in termination of employment. Exception: If certification lapse/expiration is reported to supervisor within 24 hours of expiration date, employee will be granted opportunity to recertify by close of following business day. Any lapse/expiration greater than 24 hours will result in termination of employment. Additionally, all certified practitioners are responsible for participating in semi-annual quality assurance training activities conducted by the identified ANSA/CANS Super User.
    Supervision:
    • Receives direct supervision from Crisis Co-Response Program Manager.
    Required Education:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or University in the Behavioral Science field of study.

    Working Conditions:
    • Work will be performed in the Office, Field and/or Remotely setting(s).
    • May require varied work hours depending on need of clients.
    • Out of region travel may be required to attend trainings.
    • May require travel to various locations within Brazoria and Galveston Counties. Requires current Texas Driver's License, reliable transportation safe and current with all state requirements, and liability insurance.
    • Crisis outreach staff are expected to work together as a team to have a schedule that maintains crisis services 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
    • Crisis staff are required to work on some Center holidays unless approved for a skeleton crew by the Crisis Co-Response Team Program Manager.
    • YCOT staff that work on Center holidays will be paid their hours worked and an additional 8 hours of holiday pay or they can take the holiday off another day that is approved by the Crisis Co-Response Team Program Manager.
    Special Projects:
    • Assist supervisor when requested to complete special projects and complete all assignments within a time frame negotiated with the supervisor. Completion of other duties assigned by supervisor as it relates to the program and position.
