    POSITION PROFILEThe Project Team Leader will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, results-driven environment of challenging product development initiatives.

    The project team leader successfully leads their team from product ideation thru commercialization while keeping project milestones on schedule, on budget, and meeting profit targets.


    The responsibilities of this position include:

    • Lead teams to deliver successful solutions by removing roadblocks that tend to bog down teams and slow the development process
    • Take ownership in all project issues with a hands-on approach to root cause analysis and problem resolution while leading team to fact-based decision making
    • Simultaneously manage multiple high-visibility, multi-year long projects, in various stages by employing focused task management, creative problem-solving skills and tactical and strategic planning in order to keep projects on time, on budget and profitable
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive and detailed project plans that summarize critical short and long-term tasks, cost targets, budget performance and intermediate deliverables required for a successful product launch
    • Develop excellent working relationships with marketing, purchasing, quality, finance and operations at all levels of the organization and facilitate interaction between these groups and the PD team
    • Delegate authority and responsibility within the team, and other stakeholder organizations, including suppliers and Operations at all Knoll manufacturing locations
    • Communicate the actions required from external contributors that are critical to the teams success and obtain their commitment to keeping same
    • Encourage innovation in keeping commitments, schedules, etc.
    • Encourage team members to suggest alternative action plans and/or express objection based upon their perspective/role on the product team
    • Is receptive to, and acts upon, ideas, suggestions, and alternative paths from fellow team members, external contributors, Product Marketing, and Product Development Management
    • Keep the team clearly focused upon the factors/criteria that are critical to success of the project
    • Maintain an effective leadership style, using a variety of motivational techniques based upon the circumstances or individual
    • Remain current to development activity progress and assist team members and external contributors in keeping, and exceeding, project schedules, targets (financial, quality, manufacturing, etc)
    • Maintain an open flow of communication to team members, external contributors, Product Marketing and Product Development management
    • Facilitate the interaction between/among Design, Product Marketing, Product Development
    • When communicating problems or concerns to Design, Product Marketing and Product Development Management, always recommend potential solutions to the problem
    • Support Purchasing, Quality, Operations, etc in the evaluation, selection and development of suppliers
    • Support Knoll Operations in the resolution of manufacturing opportunities relating to the products designRequired Skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills across all levels of an organization
    • Proven track record of managing teams thru challenging product launches and overcoming technical and business-related issues
      EDUCATION Bachelors degree in (Business or Engineering preferred) from an accredited college or university
    • PMP certification preferred or 15 years equivalent experienceRequired Experience 10+ years successful experience in leading cross-functional teams in project management
    • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Experience with project management tools used to manage deadlines, budgets, tasks, costs
    • Experience with of accounting practice and budget management
    • Working knowledge of engineering change processes
    • Working knowledge of materials, manufacturing, finish and assembly techniques
    • Working knowledge of Industrial Design, and new product development via external design resources
    • Working knowledge of product Quality assessment methods and processes
