    Description

    Job Overview:

    RN is responsible for providing clinical and nursing care to patients seen at the Geriatric Health Center at MMC. The RN is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members such as CMA's. The RN works under the supervision of the medical providers and nursing administration of MMC. The RN provides nursing cate in the health care system within the scope of practice by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA codes of ethics.

    The RN is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. The RN is consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvements.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Acute Care experience required
  • Preferred:

  • BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
  • Completion of clinical experience in an NLN accredited school preferred.
  • Geriatric or Ambulatory Certification preferred
  • Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current New Jersey RN license
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Essential Functions:

  • Initiates and develops care plans and goals accordance to departmental standards
  • Provides family education according to the plan of care.
  • Communicates essential patient care information to providers and appropriate team members.
  • Collects information from supportive healthcare member to assist in patient's evaluation.
  • Proposed all medication refill request to physicians for their approvals.
  • Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to individual associate's competence and patient care needs.
  • Assists and leads providers in meeting quality metrics established by RWJBH provider groups such as: AWVs, Breast Screening, Colonoscopy Screenings, A1Cs. Depression Screenings, Falls Screening
  • Acts as Department Safety Office
  • Assist providers in completing medication reconciliations
  • Represents department in all Nursing Magnet Initiatives
  • Performs and coordinates departmental improvement projects
  • Responsible supply management which includes ordering all office and clinical required supplies.
  • Oversee and supervises the CMA's working in the department
  • Will assume leadership responsibilities for the management of the department in the absence of the manager/director.
  • Responsible for the completion of payroll in the absence of the manager/director.
  • Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department.
