H1b candidates will be consideredOur client is seeking a Platform Team Manager for their Boston and surrounding offices. This is a multi-site role.
The Platform Team Manager will lead a kubernetes-based, microservices environment that create code hosting in containers, service level provisioning, API and microservice traffic routing, internal messaging, network security, storage management, database management, platform operations, and much more.
The Platform Team Manager will lead an engineering team to support our cloud-connected consumer products, and to evolve the platform to meet the needs of future generations of products.
As the leader of the Microservices Platform Team, you will work as an integral part of our client's Cloud Platform team enabling features for all their consumer products.
The ideal candidate has extensive virtualized computing experience and has previously led the creation of a modern cloud systems. Preferably in a fast-paced agile environment.ResponsibilitiesLead team that focuses on foundational technologies like AWS-based infrastructure (EC2, VPC, DNS, SSL), Lead a 2nd team that is building a next-generation Kubernetes microservices platform, Lead a 3rd team that delivers a set of cloud-scale databases as a service to developers, lead a 4th team that is defining session management and caching for microservice developersOrganize, potentially another team or distribute responsibilities across existing teams to manage 24/7 operations and engagement for internal customersDefine KPIs and SLOs for the Microservices Platform and deliver clear reporting on operationsEnsure consistent software development practices across all sub-teams, building of backlogs, prioritization of work items, setting expectations with customers, and delivery on commitmentsOwn a set of vendor relationships for critical technologiesStay up to date on relevant technologies, plug into user groups, understand trends and opportunities to ensure we are using the best possible technologiesReport to senior managers and evangelize to various company departmentsQualifications Deep knowledge of networking and Internet technologiesExperience with containers and microservice architecturesUnderstanding of computer system vulnerabilities and best practices for secure computing environmentsFamiliar with dynamic server coding environments such as Python, Go, and Node.
