    • Aerospace.
    The Sr. Project Engineer will be responsible for projects in Kern Aero Division. The division provides customers with design, engineering, and development of human access platforms for various aircraft and spacecraft. The division aligns with the company's business goals and maintains a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction. This position requires thorough, professional communication and coordination with internal team members and external customers.

    Essential Job Specific Duties:
    Oversees and manages key projects and processes required for the division.
    Oversees end-to-end product development process for custom aircraft maintenance stands, from concept to production. Ensures products meet and exceed industry standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
    Mentors and collaborates with a cross-functional team of designers, product managers, and manufacturing professionals. Fosters a culture of innovation and excellence.
    Develops and implements procedures for product development, from design through a delivered product.
    Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or existing product improvement.
    Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted; submits feasible proposals to CEO / President for consideration and budget allocation.
    Provides recommendations on project resources. Recommends profitable allocation including but limited to staffing, technology, facility, and equipment.
    Provides status updates of each project on a regular basis.
    Works with the manufacturing and quality manager to monitor quality and process improvements and new product development.

    Maintains adherence to company policies, quality, safety, and environmental standards as outlined in roles and responsibilities of ISO 9001:2015 and AISC / AWS Standards.

    Other responsibilities as assigned.


    RequirementsEducation & Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
    Five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in engineering project management or engineering management.
    Experience with a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
    Understanding of manufacturing or fabrication operations; structural steel experience a plus.


    Knowledge of:
    Technical proficiency in foundational engineering principles including structural, mechanical, electrical and materials science.
    Understanding of fabrication and machining techniques.
    Proficient in engineering solutions such as AutoCAD or Solidworks, and in project management software.
    Knowledge of construction accounting systems a plus.
    Company policies and procedures.
