    The Role

    The Mechanical Engineering Intern will be an integral part of our engineering team, focusing on maintaining, repairing, and enhancing cutting-edge instruments. This full-time summer internship, located at our Boston Seaport office, offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, collaborate in a dynamic startup environment, and contribute to the advancement of genomics technology.

    Day To Day Work

    • Assist the engineering team in prototyping, manufacturing, and assembling instruments.
    • Conduct calibration, quality control, and repair tasks on instruments.
    • Perform R&D experiments to enhance instrument functionality.
    • Document all operations and testing conducted on the instruments.
    • Support the manufacturing team by optimizing the in-house assembly line.
    • Design jigs, fixtures, and test stands to improve production efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the engineering team on various development initiatives.

    Requirements

    Requirements

    • Availability to commute to the Boston Seaport office five days a week.
    • Experience in designing and prototyping electromechanical systems.
    • Familiarity with prototyping equipment such as hand tools, laser cutters, 3D printers, soldering tools, and waterjets.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment with shifting priorities.
    • Proactive team player with strong task prioritization skills.
    • Biology experience is not mandatory.

    Nice To Have

    • Interest in gaining knowledge about electrowetting technology and genomic biological processes.
