    JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Overview:As a Tumor Registrar at AAI, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our clients, particularly the VA in Augusta, GA, by maintaining precise and comprehensive cancer data. Working remotely, you will be tasked with abstracting data from medical records, adhering to established guidelines, and safeguarding the integrity of the tumor registry database. Moreover, you will collaborate with internal teams to deliver seamless service and aid ongoing projects aimed at enhancing registry operations.
    Key Responsibilities:
    1. Data Abstraction:
    • Efficiently abstract cancer cases from medical records, ensuring meticulous accuracy and completeness.
    • Apply your expertise in anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to precisely identify malignant diseases.
    • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in cancer treatment modalities through continuous education and research.

    2. Client Support and Collaboration:
    • Lead the Tumor Registrar group in delivering excellence-driven service to client departments.
    • Forge close partnerships with the Manager to ensure uninterrupted services and address client needs promptly.
    • Assist with system upgrades, report requests, and other client-related endeavors as required.

    3. Quality Assurance and Reporting:
    • Conduct thorough data quality reviews to uphold the integrity of the tumor registry database.
    • Manage Rapid Quality Reporting System (RQRS) data and oversee case-finding audit reviews.
    • Assist in DeathMatch management and serve as a reliable backup for system upgrade testing.

    4. Professional Development and Mentorship:
    • Act as a mentor to cultivate organizational competencies and behaviors aligned with AAI values.
    • Remain current on industry trends and actively engage in continuing education opportunities to enrich skills and knowledge.

    5. Additional Responsibilities:
    • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities pertinent to the role and area.
    • Support ongoing projects aimed at enhancing registry operations and contributing to organizational objectives.

    Qualifications:
    • Must possess Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) credentials and maintain active certification.
    • An associate degree in a health-related field is required, while a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of direct experience in tumor registry or a related healthcare field.
    • Proficient in the use of personal computers, in-house computer systems, and other office equipment.
    • TR (Tumor Registrar) certification or eligibility to sit for certification upon hire is mandatory.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a remote team environment.
    • Dedication to excellence and continual improvement in cancer registry practices.
