    Position Summary

    The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the management and oversight of all functions of the Financial Aid Office, including but not limited to: administration of all financial aid programs, preparation and management of federal and state reporting and delivery of funds and services to students. The Director ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations governing student aid programs and works with the Assistant Vice President for Student Financial Services on the development and implementation of staffing models and the annual operating budget. The Director will, in conjunction with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, execute a strategy for leveraging institutional financial aid dollars in order to meet targeted levels of student financial need while supporting the University enrollment goals and ensuring that budget projections are met.

    Essential Duties
    • Provide leadership and direction for the delivery and coordination of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.
    • Assist the Assistant Vice President of Student Financial Services in the review, creation, and maintenance of packaging parameters.
    • Interpret and apply federal laws and regulations; University policies and regulations; and state regulations relating to the delivery of student financial assistance and inform the Assistant Vice President of Student Financial Services and appropriate staff members throughout the University of these changes.
    • Direct, train, supervise, and evaluate Financial Aid Office staff.
    • Develop and recommend departmental processes and procedures to increase/improve operational efficiency and to ensure proper controls and regulatory compliance.
    • Update the Policy and Procedure Manual as appropriate and required.
    • Oversee audits, compliance reviews and account reconciliations.
    • Complete the FISAP and oversee the completion of all other Federal and State reports and reconciliation rosters accurately and on time.
    • Participate in professional activities and training to ensure that the office and staff are current with all State and Federal regulation updates.
    • Direct financial aid strategies within the framework of federal and state regulations that are consistent with the enrollment objectives of the University.
    • Review, verify, and award prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students and participate in the counseling of students and parents.
    Secondary Responsibilities
    • Serve as the University's primary external financial assistance liaison to high school guidance staff, community educational organizations, lenders, guarantors, servicing agencies, and others involved in the process of financial aid for post-secondary education.
    • Serve as the University primary financial assistance representative with national, regional and state organizations, such as NASFAA, EASFAA, PASFAA, and the College Board.
    • Coordinates and participates in student outreach activities with regard to financial aid education and counseling.
    • Represents Financial Aid at undergraduate, graduate, and continuing studies open house and admitted student events.
    • Develops and manages department website content with current federal and institutional guidelines, applications, and financial aid forms.
    • Perform all other duties assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Services.

    Required Qualifications
    • Baccalaureate degree.
    • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of administration related to a comprehensive financial aid process. This includes but is not limited to:
      • Mastery of regulations governing the awarding of federal and state financial aid.
      • Directing all office operations and managing resources in support of enrollment goals.
      • Minimum of 5 years of relevant financial aid experience.
    • Must be in good standing in all Federal Title IV programs.
    • Knowledge of Federal, State and institutional aid programs.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of constituent groups
    • Ability to work with other members of the La Salle community in order to accomplish established University goals and objectives.
    • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous experience using Ellucian's Banner
    Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

    Evening and weekend work may be necessary during peak times

    Local travel may be required for open houses and events
