    Who we are looking for

    Reporting to the Principal Data Scientist in the data science team in IA you'll be:


    Part of a team helping to deliver the strategy for data science in Internal Audit (IA), by ensuring that you are utilising the appropriate technology, processes, and techniques to support its delivery.

    Utilise data science techniques to identify, develop and apply deeper insight into the risk universe.

    Be a beacon for innovation.

    Using tools and techniques available to help develop a suite of data science solutions that will increase the usage of data and draw out insight.


    Working with the audit team, key stakeholders, and data owners across the Society to ensure that an extensive range of data is available to IA and used effectively.

    Influencing others and building professional business relationships at various levels across the Society.

    Using your expertise to enable IA to enhance its usage of data from across the Society.


    Play a part in monitoring data use in audit planning and reporting, preparation and execution, continuous monitoring mechanisms, ad-hoc queries, and training.

    This includes helping to ensure that the demand for data insight support in IA is prioritised and resourced effectively.
    What you'll be doing

    Have experience or working with the data science Python development stack (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib) in either a commercial or academic environment.

    Understand machine learning techniques, their training and development and how they should be applied to solve business problems.


    Demonstrate a basic understanding of MLOps principles such as virtual environments, coding standards, CI/CD principles, version control systems, agile development.

    Show the ability to think laterally to solve problems and evidence strong communication skills.


    Experience of applying your data science skills through an understanding and interpretation of business data in a variety of areas.

    Have experience and understanding of other analytical tools and relational query languages such as SAS, SQL, etc.

    Knowledge of BI tools such as Power BI.

    Possess a numeric qualification, either at A-level or Degree level.
