- Assist in development of the specific objectives and strategies to maintain an effective health and safety program that complies with Federal, State and Local safety regulations, as well as those of industry partners and various GMP, ISO and/or HACCP programs
- Identify areas of improvement at plant locations and coordinate with management to provide necessary risk assessment and training through a comprehensive program that addresses new hire orientations, jobsite training, managerial training, conflict resolution, and routine informational communications
- Ensure comprehensive on-site safety assessments are conducted and monitors corrective actions taken by performing site audits to ensure team compliance with all program(s)
- Provide ongoing coaching and guidance for staff on workplace safety-related functions such as proper job hazard analysis, injury investigations, job description, and other safety program requirements, including recommending and enforcing disciplinary actions when needed
- Review accident and incident documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete and accurate; ensures corrective action is implemented. Reviews and helps maintain worker compensation claims in association with Human Resources department
- Ensure all required regulatory and industry reports are prepared accurately and submitted timely, including responding to and managing all OSHA and other regulatory inquiries, as well as partner industrial quality audits
- Plan and implement periodic emergency safety drills
- Conduct facility walk throughs daily confirming safety protocols, certifications, and standards are met and followed
- Facilitate EHS training during Onboarding for new employees and throughout the calendar year
- Manage forklift certification program to include new hire testing
- Assist in the development of and maintains documentation for the Company safety and quality manuals. Ensure policy changes are effectively communicated throughout the Company
- Meet and advise with management regularly, providing and receiving feedback regarding issues surrounding environmental, health, safety and quality programs and initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health/Safety, Engineering, Construction Management Technology, Industrial Hygiene or related field of study is preferred
- Minimum of OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training. OSHA 500 is beneficial
- Excellent leadership skills, including the abilities to set goals, motivate and manage conflict
- Outstanding communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving and strategic planning abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships with peers
- Exceptional time management and organization skills, with ability to process information and make decisions and act quickly
- Computer skills: familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, moisture, and dirty environment
