Senior Mechanical Engineer/Machinery Design
This position is Contingent Upon Contract Award

Purpose:
Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a

Machinery Design focused Mechanical Engineer

to support the Underway Replenishment Division at Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division.

Job Description:
Develop and refine concepts for new systems and processes to advance naval logistics capability and improve system readiness.
Develop, revise, and provide 3-D models and engineering drawings for naval replenishment systems.

Perform finite element analysis of UNREP components and systems to validate structural integrity of designs and adherence to technical requirements.

Develop and aid in the development of documentation in support of analyses of alternatives of new UNREP systems and equipment concepts.

Support Test and Evaluation Services.

Perform DDAM (Dynamic Design Analysis Method) analysis of UNREP components and systems to simulate shock loading and aid in the hardening of components to meet shock qualification.

Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering and at least 5 years of experience

OR
a High school diploma and at least 15 years of experience performing mechanical engineering duties.

Must have at least 5 years of experience in performing detailed mechanical design, with a preference toward shipboard deck machinery, or similar.

Qualifications:

Prefer at least 10 years of experience performing detailed mechanical design, with a preference toward shipboard deck machinery, or similar.

Experience supporting a U.S Navy Design Agent.
Master's in an Engineering Discipline from an accredited university or college.

Security Requirements:
Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance or clearance in interim.
Must have the ability to gain access to private and public shipyards and Naval installations.

Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel- Up to 25%

If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (no later than position start date) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.

Physical Requirements:
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
