- Provide comprehensive medical care to women, including routine gynecological exams, screenings, and preventive health services.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of gynecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and STIs.
- Perform well-woman exams, Pap smears, HPV testing, and breast examinations to screen for cervical cancer, HPV infection, and breast abnormalities.
- Provide family planning and contraceptive counseling, including prescribing birth control pills, intrauterine devices (IUDs), contraceptive implants, and other contraceptive methods.
- Evaluate and manage infertility issues, including diagnostic testing, ovulation induction, and referral for assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as in vitro fertilization (IVF).
- Provide prenatal care to pregnant women, including monitoring maternal and fetal health, conducting prenatal screenings and diagnostic tests, and managing pregnancy complications.
- Perform obstetric ultrasounds and fetal monitoring to assess fetal growth, development, and well-being during pregnancy.
- Attend labor and delivery, providing obstetric care and management of labor and childbirth, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections (C-sections).
- Provide postpartum care to mothers and newborns, monitoring recovery, breastfeeding support, and addressing postpartum issues such as depression and breastfeeding difficulties.
- Perform gynecological surgeries, including hysterectomy, myomectomy, tubal ligation, and minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
- Manage menopausal symptoms and provide hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopausal women.
- Counsel patients on women's health issues, including menstrual disorders, menopause, sexual health, and reproductive anatomy and physiology.
- Stay updated on advancements in obstetrics and gynecology research, treatments, and technologies through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards governing obstetric and gynecological practice.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives, educational seminars, and screenings to promote women's health and disease prevention.
- Foster positive relationships with patients, addressing their concerns and providing compassionate care in a supportive environment.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an obstetrics and gynecology residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Board certification or eligibility for board certification in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) or the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOBOG).
- State medical licensure or eligibility for medical licensure to practice obstetrics and gynecology.
- Strong clinical skills and proficiency in obstetric and gynecological diagnosis, treatment, and procedural techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building rapport with patients and collaborating with healthcare colleagues.
- Dedication to providing high-quality obstetric and gynecological care with a focus on patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes.
