Engineering Technician Position:
As an engineering technician at Horizon Surgical Systems, your work will contribute to the automation of ophthalmological surgical procedures with a robotic platform. In this role, you will assemble and provide maintenance for hardware components and robotic systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Mechanical benchtop work including, but not limited to, sawing/cutting, sanding, drilling, 3D printing, and using power tools
- Electrical benchtop work including, but not limited to, soldering, crimping, electrical harness assembly, wire routing, and cable management.
- General assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of robotic and computing equipment
- Mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic inspection of prototypes with callipers, digital multimeters, oscilloscope, pin gauges, and various other mechanical and electrical measurement tools.
- Maintaining clear communication with the engineering team and management
- Creating, updating, maintaining, and providing feedback on electronic log books, assembly instructions, inventory logs, travelers, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, status reports, and other documentation.
- Maintaining an organized and presentable work area
- Working collaboratively with the development team
Required Qualifications and Abilities:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Excellent hands-on skills and experience
- Extensive experience performing electrical and mechanical benchtop work
- Good communication skills (verbal, written, and visual)
- Good organization skills
Desired Qualifications and Abilities:
- Some college, an Associate's degree, a technical/trade school certificate/diploma, or Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to design mechanical parts using CAD
- Understanding of common manufacturing processes including injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, etc.
- Understanding of basic circuit components and electrical laws
- Ability to design basic electrical circuits.
- Previous experience with robotic assembly is a bonus
- Previous experience in a medical or healthcare-related field is a bonus
