    Payroll Specialist - West Columbia, SC


    Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is actively seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team in the West Columbia, South Carolina office.

    The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing the payroll function and providing excellent customer service to our employees. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

    Responsibilities
    Verify employee timesheets and other payroll data.
    Collaborate with third-party payroll service on payroll processing and tax filing.
    Resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees.
    Onboard new hires into payroll service and company ERP system.
    Update employee benefit changes with providers and payroll systems.
    Coordinate employee requirements with other departments.
    Verify and code employee benefit invoices.
    Reconcile GL payroll accounts.
    Process garnishments.
    Complete state multi-worksite reporting and certified payrolls.
    Calculate and report taxable fringe benefits.
    Coordinate the 401K audit and 5500 filing with external auditors.
    Assist accounting as needed.
    Qualifications
    Understanding of payroll processing, payroll accounting, and payroll tax in a multi-state environment.
    Working knowledge of statutory pay requirements.
    Experience working with a third-party payroll service.
    Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
    Detail-oriented, self-starter who can work independently.
    Proven customer service skills.
    Education and Experience Requirements
    Associate degree in business or accounting.
    5+ years of payroll experience required; 10 years of payroll experience preferred.
    Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint and/or FAR is a plus but not required.
    Physical Demands
    This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions.

    Expected Hours of Work
    This is a full-time position. The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily.
