Position for the school year

TITLE: School Psychologist

QUALIFICATIONS: Current Certification as a School Psychologist in the state of Arizona.

Positive recommendations from past employer and/or training institute.

Ability to communicate effectively with various groups verbally and in writing.

Ability to perform assessments that lead to the identification of all educational disbilities.

REPORTS TO: Special Education Director

JOB GOAL: To provide psychological services to district students referred

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluations of students referred for possible placement in special education program, eligibility of student special education, and/or for alternative strategies with the regular classroom. Consultation with staff members, parents and others as required during the screening, referral, and evaluation of students.
Attends MDT meetings and recommends IEPs for all disabled students. Conducts follow-up activities to assure the IEP is being implemented in the program setting.
Consults with individual faculty members concerning curriculum content, classroom methodology, and other items pertinent to establishing a climate conducive to maximal learning for each student.
Provide limited counseling consultation that may be beyond the scope of the school counselor.
Provide professional development to schools regarding correct forms and procedures for special education.
Provide consultation to administration on special education procedures.
Assist the administration and staff in designing and implementing in-service seminars; workshops, and conferences intended to improve professional insights, attitudes and performance.
Assist in school wide assessments as directed.
Consultation with Superintendent regarding appropriate use of Psychological Services.
Other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Ten months per year. Salary and work year to be established by the Governing Board and the Superintendent.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Special Eduation Director in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy of Evaluation by Administrative Personnel.
