Description
OverviewResponsible for supervision and patient care management for a select program and/or a defined workgroup. Identifies and accomplishes program goals and outcomes. Maintains regulatory and professional standards/requirements. Supports and maintains a cost effective, progressive and customer-focused service.
This role will provide leadership in the areas of training, clinical oversight, completion of competencies and acts as a resource to management in daily operations.

Responsibilities
Uses the nursing process to provide patient care. Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of unit practice, issues, trends, and technology/instrumentation. Provides daily coordination of procedures ensuring that all resources are available for their specialty. Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of staffing roles. Provide technical support for their specialty. Assists others and provides feedback to staff on setting priorities for action and anticipating patient care needs. Provides direct patient care through application of the nursing process. Applies nursing process to the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. Consistently collects and analyzes patient/significant other data. Records initial database, ongoing assessment, and evaluation of patient responses.
Develops, revises, and documents plan of care including discharge planning in collaboration with the patient, significant others, and health care providers.
Demonstrates competence in administering and monitoring therapeutic interventions for the most complex patients and is sought by others for this ability.
Assists in the identification and resolution of Quality improvement issues specifically related to patient care.Implements interventions in a manner to maintain patient dignity, privacy, and safety Provides leadership for the department in meeting organizational goals and objectives.
Facilitates/monitors ongoing activities to meet regulatory standards. Demonstrates accountability and knowledge for departmental/organizational objectives. Promotes departmental philosophy and fosters a positive, caring and collegial environment. Assist in the development of and monitors program/clinical outcomes. Recommends options to enhance program/clinical outcomes. Coordinates departmental orientation, continuing education and clinical development. Monitors/reports compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Evaluates team performance and provides appropriate feedback. Ability to act in a leadership role and manage emergency situations Assists in implementing performance improvement activities. Assists in implementing performance improvement activities. Operationalizes the QI/PI program for department. Facilitates staff PI/QI education and participation. Consistently communicates customer satisfaction results and recommends options and implements plans to enhance customer satisfaction. Researches and provides follow up regarding departmental incidents. Incorporates changes into practice and coaches and mentors others to do so.Recognizes opportunities for QI process, participates in the designs and implementation of the design of these processes Assists in the selection and management of specialty area.
Assist in the selection and management of resources for a defined work group. Participates in the selection and supervision of personnel. Assists with the completion of performance appraisals. Generates and/or participates in development of the departmental schedule and manages daily staffing operations. Assist with the preparation and execution of staff assignments and patient throughput. Investigates select budgetary variances and approves and documents staffing variances. Provides input for annual budget process. Monitors and maintains departmental cost-containment activities. Identifies and implements strategies to reduce operational cost Demonstrates effective conflict resolution/negotiation skills. Promotes positive, supportive, and professional work environment free of disruptive behavior. Practices, in all professional relationships, with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and uniqueness of every individual. Follows Chain of Command for assistance with issues related to unresolved/problem-solving and/or conflict resolution. Provides, seeks and receives constructive feedback. EDUCATION:
Bachelors, Nursing, RequiredMaster?s Degree, preferred in Nursing.
Master?s Degree in a health related field with certification in a nursing specialty will be considered in lieu of a Masters in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience in specialty area required. Three (3) years as RN preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIREDRN | Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Certification in a clinical specialty as defined by National Certification requirements is required within two (2) years of hire into RN Specialty Coordinator position.
PREFERREDACLS | Advanced Cardiovascular Life SupportPALS | Pediatric Advanced Life SupportAdvanced Trauma Life Support ( ATLS) preferred.
