- Assemble, fit, align, and install mechanical parts, subassemblies, and components (e.g., brackets, hinges, fasteners, structural elements, or precision hardware) using hand tools, power tools, rivet guns, torque wrenches, and other specialized equipment.
- Develop work instructions for future builds beyond first article/low-rate initial production runs as appropriate.
- Prepare components by gathering parts, cleaning surfaces, deburring, sanding, or performing minor adjustments to ensure proper fit and function.
- Install hardware such as helicoils, dowel pins, spring pins, heat inserts, PEM fasteners, rivnuts, or similar precision fasteners common in aerospace applications.
- Seal, rig, install and complete structural or system components, including working with LRUs, Wire Harnesses, or mechanical structures where applicable.
- Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, DMMs) and shop mathematics to verify dimensions, alignments, tolerances, and functional fit.
- Provide BOMs to production for acquisition and assist in fielding technical questions from Purchasing for the acquisition of parts.
- Complete tasks as assigned in Jira and maintain accurate status on tickets in Jira.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues, adjust or rework parts as needed, and report anomalies or non-conformances while contributing to corrective actions.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow strict safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls, and aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100).
- Document work performed, complete inspection reports, and record any deviations or test results in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
5-7 years of mechanical assembly experience, preferably in aerospace, automotive, defense, aviation, or a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
High attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to identify defects or non-conformances.
- Ability to work in a team, follow strict safety protocols, and maintain a clean/organized workspace.
- Physical capability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights (e.g., up to 25–50 lbs depending on the role), bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
Your own unique talents If you meet some requirements of this position but not 100% of the qualifications outlined above, tell us why you'd be a great fit for this role based on your specific characteristics that align with our values and goals
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with aerospace quality systems (e.g., AS9100).
- Vocational/technical training, an associate's degree, or certification in aerospace technology, mechanical assembly, automotive, manufacturing, or a related field.
