    Research Specialist

    Job Summary

    Research specialist is essential to manage the laboratory including maintaining and organizing reagent stocks, records and equipment. The person is also required to order supplies and for the maintenance and breeding of the mouse colony and genotyping. Research technician will assist PI and students in performing histological analysis immunofluorescence studies, immunoblotting and qPCR assays.

    Essential Job Duties
    • The selected candidate will be involved in all aspects of the projects - from managing the mouse colony to performing experiments using a wide variety of molecular biology techniques.
    • Specific responsibilities include: mouse husbandry, handling of transgenic and knockout mouse models immunohistochemistry, microscopy and other cell and molecular biology technique-based experience as directed by the principal investigator.
    • Participate in laboratory activities ordering of supplies and maintenance of inventory, assist undergraduate and graduate students in the lab. Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases as well as assists in writing manuscripts, conference presentations and grant applications.
    Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
    • PhD or Master of Science or bachelor's in science in Biology or equivalent degree will be considered.
    • Experience with transgenic mice/lab animal handling and colony management along with molecular biology techniques such as western blotting, Immunohistochemistry and quantitative PCR analysis will be highly valuable.
