    Start Date: 8/26

    Hours: Mon-Fri from 8am-4pm

    10 month position (follows school calendar)

    35 hours per week

    PTO hours to be used for RIDE school vacation/breaks

    A typical day for a RIDE Pre-K Teacher's Assistant will include:

    • Working as a team with the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, healthy, structured, welcoming space to grow and learn.
    • Singing, dancing, playing, teaching
    • Inspiring children to be lifelong learners.
    • Partnering with families to nurture and care for their children.
    • Showcasing your tech savvy skills by using an electronic daily tracking app.
    • Assisting with the accreditation process as well as other quality initiatives.

    Requirements:

    We are willing to train the right person Our ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working with children in a group setting.

    We are looking for someone who has the following skills:

    • A personal demeanor that is warm and friendly.
    • Verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and reading skills.
    • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
    • Organized and able to prioritize and multi-task.
    • Team-oriented and willing to work with others.

    Education Requirements

    · Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

    · Option 1: *Successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training Program approved by the RI Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

    · Option 2: *Minimum of 12 credit hours of college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program

    · Option 3: *Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential PLUS nine (9) credit hours of college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program setting

    · CPR/First Aid certification preferred

    Certifications/Experience

    • At least 1 year working in an early learning/child care center.
    • Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certification preferred.
    • Knowledge of Teaching Strategies and/or Conscious Discipline preferred.
    • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    • Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting).
    • Visual and hearing acuity.
    • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

    Other Qualifications

    • 18 years of age or older
    • Able to read, write, speak and understand English, bilingual encouraged to apply.
    • Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check.
    • Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS).
