    SUMMARY:

    Will be directly involved with the fabrication of custom automation equipment for many different industries.

    Qualified and competent to setup, program and operate both CNC and manual machine tools, such as Milling Machines, Vertical Machining Centers, Lathes, Turning Centers, Surface Grinders, etc. to operate, recondition or manufacture without assistance, customer system components precisely, accurately and on schedule as required using industry standard mechanical drawings and blueprints, as well as all precision related machinist related measuring and gauging tools such as Calipers, Micrometers, etc.

    Role will require the ability to work under minimal or limited supervision, as well as the capability of manufacturing any part on a specific manual or CNC machine, based on business requirements, as determined by Management.

    RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • General machine shop duties.
    • Perform the set-up and operation of both manual and CNC machine tools.
    • Ability to read and write machine programs utilizing G-Code Programming
    • Familiarity with Solid CAM (or proficient in some other CAM program)
    • Competent operating and programming Fanuc controlled CNC Machine Tools
    • Check parts to ensure they meet customer specifications with micrometers, calipers, blueprints and other related quality equipment.
    • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machine.
    • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachment accessories and material on machines such as grinders and lathes.
    • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow as well as the depth and angle of the cut.
    • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
    • Verify conformance of finished work piece to the specifications by using precision measuring instruments.
    • Set up and operate machine on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings.
    • Comply with company policies and procedures with special attention to safety regulations.
    • Perform layouts and set ups, and operate conventional machine tools as required.·
    • Read and interpret all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
    • Instruct other shop personnel in proper machining techniques: set-ups, feeds and speeds for both carbide and high-speed steel cutting tools, methods and standard operating procedures.
    • Improve methods for higher quality and improved costs.
    • Assist maintenance in diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance.
    • Work within our system which includes following all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Most work is performed in an office and shop environment. Regular trips to client facility and/or manufacturing plant may also be required at Management's discretion. Sound knowledge of safety standards within the shop and manufacturing environment, including exposure to regulated hazardous chemicals and equipment is necessary to safely use and operate in such environments.

    Occasional travel up to 30% may be required as well as working evenings, weekends and/or holidays which is done to support client needs during any shutdowns and/or scheduled maintenance.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move between standing and sitting. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms including pushing and pulling; talk, hear and see to communicate and ensure safety procedures are followed. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training
    • Ability to perform required visual inspection of parts.
    • Must be able to produce and qualify parts to ensure quality standards with blueprints and related QC gauges.
    • Attention to detail when manufacturing new parts.
    • Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections.
    • Ability to perform with a minimum of direct supervision.
    • Working knowledge of tool geometry and application.
    • Working knowledge of effects of feeds and speeds.
    • Understand and read CAD drawings.
    • Experience machining with aluminum, bronze, brass and steel.
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
