    BUILDING ENGINEER
    Rose Valley Management is looking to hire a Building Engineer to join our family-owned and growing company

    JOB SUMMARY:


    The Building Engineer provides professional engineering services such as reviewing complex architectural and structural construction documents and civil engineering related design for compliance with code.

    Also coordinates maintenance and repair activities with functions of other departments.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High School graduate or graduate of a technical school.
    Four (4) years of responsible experience in engineering or plans examination.
    Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical manuals.
    Knowledge of state and local codes and ordinances.
    Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
    Ability to plan and carry out programs in repair or new construction and/or installation.
    Ability to direct others.
    Knowledge of record keeping and cost estimating.
    Knowledge of supplies and equipment used by the maintenance department and the care of this equipment.
    Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with residents, visitors, outside vendors and fellow employees.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Reviews structural engineering plans and calculations for commercial, industrial, and residential projects in accordance with the state codes and accepted structural engineering standards and practices.

    Identifies design problems and deficiencies; requests revisions or supportive calculations from submitting firms; and suggests alternative structural components or designs.

    Reviews civil engineering related design projects in accordance with county codes and standards.
    Provides support for civil engineering and site design related work to land development staff as needed.

    Assists in creating a positive and supportive work environment; enforces a safe workplace; establishes a culture of teamwork and communication; creates a workplace that promotes the organizational values of workplace diversity, equity and inclusion and actively promotes an environment respectful of living and working in a multicultural society.

    Answers inquiries from department personnel and the public concerning building regulations and structural and civil engineering design matters.

    Coordinates and administers special inspection programs in accordance with state code; reviews special inspection requirements for commercial, industrial, and residential projects; and works with Building Services Division staff to resolve inspection items that are not in compliance with state codes and the project plans and specifications.

    Performs site observation visits on commercial, industrial, and residential projects to observe potential construction conflicts and/or general construction progress towards complying with state codes and the project plans and specifications.

    Provides technical training to commercial and residential plan reviewers and inspectors on applicable state code, structural and civil engineering principles, details, and construction practices.

    Subject to emergency call as the supervisor must be available for emergencies.
    Other ad-hoc duties as required or assigned.
