    Description
    Job Summary:

    The Licensed Psychiatric Technician, working closely with a Registered Nurse, provides nursing care and manages the milieu by administering medical treatment as prescribed. Must have six months of recent experience in acute mental health care and hold a current Psychiatric Technician license in California.


    Key Responsibilities:
    • Establish and nurture therapeutic relationships with patients through various communication channels.
    • Administer medications, treatments, and vital checks to patients.
    • Attend workshops, coordinate end-of-care summaries, and document all necessary information.
    • Collaborate with the treatment team to implement patient care plans.
    • Keep the care team informed of any changes in patient condition and behavior.
    • Ensure necessary medical supplies and medications are readily available.
    • Observe, record, and report patients' social, medical, and psychiatric status.
    • Promote self-help skills and provide support to patients.
    • Act as a positive role model in problem-solving situations.
    • Complete any other relevant duties as required.

    Grade 540

    Basic Qualifications: Experience
    • Minimum six (6) months experience in acute mental health care within the past four years.
    • Current KP Coalition employees exempt from experience requirement.
    Education
    • Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program or eligible for California licensure.
    License, Certification, Registration
    • Psychiatric Technician License (California).
    • Basic Life Support certification.
    Additional Requirements:
    • Familiarity with mental health laws and regulations in California.
    • Willingness to enhance skills in managing a mental health milieu.
    • Ability to understand and communicate effectively.
    • Must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
    • Understanding of psychiatric illnesses and treatments.
    • Proficiency in data collection and documentation.
    • Knowledge of psychotropic medications.
