    Who we are

    The Research Information Systems department, also known as MAESTRO, supports the mission of Sponsored Research Services (SRS) through development, implementation, and maintenance of the Maestro enterprise information system.

    This system supports researchers across The Texas A&M University System. By maintaining and improving Maestro, our employees serve a critical role in advancing the university's research goals.
    What we want
    The Lead Systems/ Database Engineer will p erform and coordinate operating system patching, upgrade, and monitor resource utilization. Investigate and install new software tools as needed. Install, administer, and monitor systems including Linux servers, Oracle databases, middle tier servers for Maestro Research Information System. Write and maintain PL/SQL programs. Perform and coordinate database upgrades, monitor database performance, and tune it when needed. Ensure recovery environment is always in sync and ready to replace production. Review, test, update, and review yearly disaster recovery process. Provide technical oversight of the architecture and engineering of our cloud-based systems and build infrastructure as code scripts. Manage system operations including RIS release deployments and issue management using Jira. Complete reports and summaries for management and users including project status reports, problem reports, and progress summaries.

    SUMMARY:
    Texas A&M University seeks a Lead Systems / Database Engineer to work in College Station, Texas.

    JOB DUTIES:
    System Administration -

    Perform and coordinate

    operating system

    patching,

    upgrades,

    and monitor

    resource utilization.

    Investigate and

    install

    new

    software

    tools

    as

    needed.

    Install, administer,

    and

    monitor

    systems

    including

    Linux

    Cloud Architect -

    Provide

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    Minimum Education Required
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

    Minimum Experience Required

    Five years of experience in related occupation including five years' experience in database administration; Oracle Database, Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Fusion Middleware or Weblogic and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Linux OS, Disaster recovery, Database Patching, Capacity Planning, Performance Tuning, and PL/SQL & Two years' experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) IT Automation tools.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    In depth experience with Oracle cloud products, Oracle RAC and Oracle Linux.

    A working knowledge of load balancing software.

    Experience with the Oracle cloud infrastructure (OCI).


    Skills using and administering Oracle database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Podman, Gluster, Weblogic and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and PL/SQL programming language.

    Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.


    ALTERNATE REQUIREMENT:
    Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Certified Architect Associate.

    Knowledge or experience with network administration and configuration.

    Knowledge of Research Administration systems.
