    The Department of Surgery at Banner University Medical Center Tucson is actively seeking a surgical oncologist to join the Division of Surgical Oncology at the Banner University Medical Center Tucson (BUMCT) and the University of Arizona. The Division is part of the University of Arizona NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The surgical oncologist should have a focus in hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease (HPB) and will be joining the HPB team. The team currently consists of 4 surgeons who cover HPB cases and consults at BUMCT, Tucson Medical Center, and the Southern Arizona VA. This provider will work with a team of attending surgeons, residents, inpatient nurses, and outpatient APPs/nurses/MAs to manage acute inpatient problems and provide continuity across continuum of care including diagnosis, initial workup, surgery, discharge planning, and postoperative multidisciplinary follow-up. The Division has started the process of creating a Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship, of which this new faculty member will be a part.


    The HPB Surgery Team is within the Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson and Banner University Medical Center -Tucson. The Division is part of the University of Arizona is the only independently NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state. They work as part of a complex multidisciplinary team including medical oncology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, interventional gastroenterology, radiology, and pathology. This opportunity is based at an academic medical center, providing opportunities for research and education. We serve a diverse patient population and have grown in HPB volume year over year.     Position Details:


    • Full Time (Monday-Friday plus Call)
    • Clinical responsibilities: OP clinic, IP rounding, OR cases, Shared Call Coverage
    • Academic research time provided DOE
    • Collaborating with oncology multidisciplinary team, gastric, interventional radiology, pathology, and primary care

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Board Eligible/Certified by the American Board of Surgery
    • Fellowship-Trained in Complex General Surgical Oncology with HIPEC
    • Desire to work in an academic setting
    • Position open to experienced surgeons as well as fellow new grads with HIPEC experience
